How you know you're in the south.

I agree with that except for the accent difference, after a year or two it becomes unbearable.

Thats more UP Michigan. All the places I lived there was not accent. You might here "you guys" used so,etimes though.

Took me a while to figure Out where over yonder meant down here.

I still say howdy to people... some sort of glitch from growing up in TX. Still wear cowboy boots as well. Some things just stick with you.

People are different in different areas of the country but there are still a lot of good people out there. My favorite is probably the people in Rural Montana. Shy... reserved...very genuine. Texans are the nicest by a mile. Central to Northern michigan are all farmer mentality...very private about religion. Very, very Pro American and hard core anti government. Most of you guys would probably be in the militia.

The south is the south. Kind of a mess of people from all over thrown together like a college campus. I like the good ole boys, the red necks, country folk etc. The cities are like califonia... lots of yuppies and tredies all battleing each other trying to keep the pace in the rat race. They give up and move eventually and polute the countryside. Some manage to assimulate... some dont.

Problem isnt as much geographic as it is spirtual. Most people dont have a connection to god and are lost souls. Then they throw up barriers to protect the ego.....makes them feel different....special....etc. 1st thing people have to do is figure out their own heads. Once you do that you can proceed on to whatever you want.

Myself I am a chameleon. I can blend in pretty much anywhere. I just change my personality depending on the situation. It was a big part of my previous professions.

Some of you fellas are kind of hard on northerners. The overwhelming majority of southerners I meet are liberals or closet liberals who are conservative when it benefits them. I have also never met a true racist down here. Lots of trash talk but no true racists... which I have encountered in other places. Its extremely rare though...most of the time they are very young.

Reactions: Me.

Been there... crazy wildlife. You go hump it out in the countryside and pick up any rock you will find something poisonous.....scorpions...black widows....snakes.....naughty women...sheesh. I was lucky to survive rural Alabama. Atlanta inner perimeter was safer than AL. All I had to worry about there were thugs and crackheads.

You want to live on the edge... go rough it in deep woods Alabama for a summer.
