After much debate we have decided to ride out the storm. Hope everyone stays safe. Good luck!

Final preparations now in place.

Now there’s a man with good taste. :D

Full disclosure, I prefer the Juicy version, but this stuff is good too.

Juicy Haze is good, but I got this for the alkyhol content.

I appreciate the prayers and we still may need them here, but I'm fortunate to be a bit inland and not near the coast. I often wish I lived near the beach, but I have to say, sometimes I'm glad I don't!
I also send prayers for those of you close to the water....

That is the thing about a hurricane. The beach comes to you.

Stay safe all.

I've been watching Duke Energy's outage page for Wilmington and it looks like power went out along a lot of College St (the main drag) in Wilmington about 11PM. Just about all of the NCDOT traffic cams appear to be down around that area as well now. 80mph wind and the rain radar looks awful.

Praying for those down in the middle of this. Wind is picking up here in Montgomery county. Power went out about 0600. Looks like the first rain band is on it's way in a little while.

New member here. I’m in northwest Pender County sitting by lantern light with two dogs who are happily chewing rawhide. Just woke my wife up to get her to move away from the northeast corner of the house as the wind has really picked up in the last hour. It’s going to be a fun twenty four plus hours.

Sounds like my two pups. Be safe.

Everyone stay safe and @BatteryOaksBilly ,@Geezer ,@Millie stay in touch let us know how you are. We expecting 12-16" withexcess of twenty in localized areas here in Stanly County. The mayor issued a SOE that goes into effect later this morning.
Heard reports the they are concerned that Albemarle could loose its water for a time not sure why and it could be a rumor.

When the sun came up it revealed all is well here...so far. All utilities in place. No building damage. Lotsa limbs down..notta problem...lotsa limbs down here all the time. Haven't got a clue where the rain is. Wind we GOT! Check with ya'll soon.
Same here in upper RobCo.

Ok so far, see new thread called "no muffin for me"...I was just out there and it's getting to look like a hurricane's in the area! I need/want to go check on the river, but not sure it's a wise move.

@Geezer lost power a bit ago. Hope everything remains ok despite the power outage down his way as well as @BatteryOaksBilly ’s way. I’m sure @Brangus has his hands full right now also and has for several days now. Good luck you guys

That is what I am thinking. But I haven't discussed it with Mrs Fool yet. She gets a say.

One bright side of all this drama is that my wife suddenly doesn't think my MRE's and water bricks, which she knew nothing about until last night, aren't crazy. She also mentioned that when this is all over maybe we should get a generator. I almost said, like the one I wanted to buy 5 years ago until you gave me THAT look.
Hahaha. That's how they all roll. Its only a good idea if it is their idea.

At Duke we have something similar. I have challenged it a time or two as I live 8 miles away (2-hour walk if I have to), the only time I was forced to stay was when my relief couldn't physically show up; even then, it wasn't for very long. Screw staying for days.
Same here. If your employer mandates that you have to remain onsite, you should be getting compensated, and they should be responsible for meals.

Not only was my wife able to come home yesterday, but she's off all weekend. Luckily, mgmt overstaffed and since my wife is PRN, she was sent home.

Now, I've got a $25 twin size inflatable mattress to return to Wallyworld.

We lost power some time in the wee hours this morning. Several sections of my fence are down but otherwise everything seems OK. Winds pretty calm now as we are somewhat in the eye I believe. Second half of the storm should be starting soon. Worst part of this is no a/c. Continued good luck to everyone.

I don't think were in Kansas anymore Toto. But I am still somewhere near Yamacraw last I checked.

Lost power for the final time last night around 9. House, occupants and animals are holding up well enough, so far. Walked down to the main driveway and found a bazillion trees down on it already. Had a MacGyver moment just before sunset and pulled brand new tin roof off of leanto off the back of my shed and cut it up to board up more windows.. Got the dogs out to Pee during a lull.. wife is cooking breakfast now, putting in a propane stove last year seems to almost appear genius now. Will be interesting to see how long cell towers hold up or how long the battery backup lasts.

Stay safe boys and girls..

We have juice!!!!!

Power went out just after 7AM Friday and came back on about an hour ago. So, we were without power for a little over 48 hours. Seemed longer.

We had no damage from the storm. One sizeable limb down and a lot of yard debris. That's all. Our problem is yet to come when all the water from NC makes it's way down here. We are in no danger of flooding here but we have a very good chance of getting locked in by flooded roads.

I hope everyone on here and your families made it as good as we did. I really am humbled by all of the calls and texts from CFF members checking on us and offering help and shelter. I cannot find the words to let you know how much that means to me. Thank you all.

In order to be a better person I'm going to make a meaningless gesture towards those of us most impacted by the storm. This will be my CFF version of an Aids ribbon from the Seinfeld episode.

I am making some fajitas for lunch and instead of going over to Publix and buy some cheese I'm going to suffer along with those people that are being stranded by the hurricane. I am going to have shredded mozzarella on my fajitas.

I am such a good person. I wish I had a Facebook or Instagram account to post this in.

Edit - not bad. I will now dub it the pizzajita.

I'm gonna get the atv and the stainless Judge and go on patrol here in a bit. The neighbors like seeing me do that. I'll scare the crap outta you cause all-of-a-sudden there I am with a gun..politely..asking you if you're lost or something. I do know that there's at least one couple in Connetticut that are still talking about the hillbilly that came out of the woods and asked them what they were doing when their GPS sent them down the wrong road.

We, surprisingly, have not lost power....yet. The wind is not real bad, and the rain is steady but not hard. I think you guys down under took most of the hit and it appears things have softened. And you know why that is cause I say it all the time. Ya'll are living down there in sin and debauchery spending all your time in Chads basement. You need to get on down to the Liberty Baptist on the frontage road and get yourself some churchin'.

If you made them go back to CT, you are doing the Lord's work. Godspeed.

We now have had 14+ inches of rain. POURING now. Ponds are full. The Waccamaw is out of the banks. We are fine. So far. No workie workie tomorrow.

Well I found out tonight that Mama and Daddy's basement is flooding. They're in Winston of all places, so I'm bringing a Shop-Vac up and going to get to work. It rained pretty hard at home today. The yard is not able to drain. No standing water, but it's real slushy. Hope you all all down East stay high and dry with the rivers coming up.

Yep...getting damp in my basement as well...plenty of water coming down....

Raining buckets now and has been since about 7:30. Right now we are having the most violent electrical storm I've even witnessed. Strong lightning hits, back to back, right on top of us.

Wow! I didn't see the first streak or hear any thunder with ours. Just sheets and sheets of rain.

Finally, it seems to have passed. I have never, ever, witnessed lightning strikes like that. Still have a lot of rain falling. Rain that is not needed right now.

My boss called this morning and said we had 8" of rain after 7PM yesterday. I have never experienced a storm like we had last night. At this time, I'm locked in by road closures. The sky does seem to be clearing some.

I’m locked in also, can get to one store down the road. Creeks are over the roads. They evacuated areas of Tabor and Loris last night for flooding. Several family members can’t even get to work at Loris Hospital. Last nights outer bands of a Tropically Depression was as bad as the eye of the storm as far as rain. Tornadoes everywhere over Horry and Columbus counties. Many got power back on, then out again a few hours later.

I’ve never seen as hard of a down pour as I did last night.

Got cell data back last night around 10. Water was higher as of 2 days ago than either fran or mathew here between ne cape fear and black river. CG heli operated nonstop yesterday several rapid treetop flights right over my compound. They are back at it, on scene since 7 this morning.
Preps are holding, still in conservation mode as we are an island and will likely be stuck for the better part of another 2 weeks.

Thank you @DirtySCREW and @Mack270 for the text coms, it sure helps ya not feel so alone..

I saw all that lightning over your way. We never got it. Good clean living will get you through every time....
