Hunting Beaver

60 POUNDS?? That's not a regular beaver, that's a BUFFALO Beaver!!! Can't say I've ever seen one that big, any pics??

Not unusual at all. In 03 I caught 22 beavers, 5 of which were over 55lbs. They pretty well filled a 4' x4' stretching board.

My bro-in-law (well, my sister-in-law's husband) is an avid trapper, here in the Triangle. He trapped a 70ish-pound (between 65 and 70 lbs) beaver about 200 yards from Southpoint Mall a couple years ago. I go out with him about once a year to remind myself that I don't care for the activity.

He does OK selling; he sells on ebay, at trappers' conventions, through word of mouth. He won't retire from it, but he does OK.

Wasn't Curt looking for some beaver tail to tan? Okay, as I post this I wonder if that's a real thing or if I missed the joke.

I saw one get hit on the road in broad daylight last week. Thought about getting it so my son could see the tail/teeth. Was in a county vehicle and would have looked like a super redneck

Just to be clear, it wasn't the vehicle that would have made you look like a super redneck. lol

Ears. Curt is only serious about ears. Everything else is usually an inside joke.

I have 1 large vegtan beaver tail i've been saving. They do make nice holsters & sheaths. Beaver skins with the hair on makes a fine hat trim. You won't find a more luxurious hairon skin. I would tan the tails if I had them. My supplier closed down last year & I haven't found another.

I want a holster made from the first coyote I shoot. @gunbelt
