Well it seems as thought these post are a yearly thing. I was deployed for 7 days just under a year ago for Florence and tomorrow we are leaving to go east for Dorian. If you all could keep us, our families and those were going to help in your prayers I would appreciate it! The FD I work for is sending 2 Engines with 4 personnel on each.

You got 'em sir. Good luck, stay safe, and thank you for your service.

Prayers for your safety and the safety of those you'll be helping.

Thank you Z. Be safe and unneeded.

Please keep us informed.

Prayers up.

Thoughts are with yall, be safe.

Ive got three family members that are linemen, so I know about family going off due to these storms

Thank you and how’d It go?

Why are fire trucks and crew sent in after a storm? Everything’s saturated.
I get the need for boats, food, water, construction folk, chainsaws, skid steer and dump trucks.

It went fine. We were actually sent in before the storm as we were last year this allows you to be there when the crap hits the fan and you are still able to get where you need to go before the roads flood. This time it was super slow as the storm barely impacted with the exception of some rain where we were. We were demobilized on Friday so it was a short trip compared to last year. The reason fire trucks are sent in is to supplement the fire services in the area. If the storm is bad they will be overwhelmed and unable to respond in a timely manner. Also some of the places we go are all volunteer and these folks are busy taking care of damage to their houses and don't have the time to respond to calls.
