You'll regret that..

My back hurts bad already, like shitty broken glass and I'm really bitchy.. :D

Your welcome to come join the Hillbilly Happy Smash but you need to load that big trailer full of food and water,, and a boat.. Gonna need a bigger boat.

Neighbors or what passes for neighbors out here in the sticks are all staying,, smmfh.. closest one has a 1 and a 3 year old. I suspect I will end up with them all in my house or what might be left of it before its over.. She said her husband was gonna tape the big X's on the French doors all across the back of their house to protect themmmmmmmmm.... AHHhhhhhh! I need them to bug, gonna have to get my wife to convince them to GTFO of Dodge.. They are going to be a huge liability to my good natured soul. My next closest neighbor is of similar mind, body and spirit (and prep level) to us. We are going to work together once the Zombie looters from WLM stagger up this way. I hope I survive the storm so I can at least have some fun with Zombies..

Seriously though.. 2-3 weeks, best case scenario for us to be able to leave Swamp Island, figure at least a week without phone coms, maybe some slow texting, like an hour to send kinda thing,, Maybe I'll have my hammy stuff for the next big one.

Can ya tell I'm stressed?

I'm at the beach now. Coming home tomorrow afternoon and already told my wife it'll probably be impossible to find food/water to get before storm hits. There's no water at any stores down here at Myrtle. Found some 2 days ago and limited to only 1 case per customer

When Hugo came through in '89 I lived 200 yards off the beach in downtown Murder Beach. It didn't even blow my wife's flip flops off the BBQ grill. A foot of sand on Shore Drive. House 2 doors down had a limb through the roof. This time I am 8 miles from the ocean with everything battened down as well as possible. Oh yeah and in '89, 3 months after Hugo we got 17 inches of SNOW in Murder Beach!!!

My wife just got 2 cases at the local Food Lion.

Starting at noon, lane reversals will be in place from Charleston to Columbia on 26 and 501 in Murder Beach*.

This is going to suck for approximate 100,000 people who commute into/through Charleston.

Gov Cooper is in Wilmington

Just got word at 2:30 pm that schools in 26 counties here in SC are officially closed until further notice.

One happy 7 year old boy in this house. Trying to explain to him that these will be made up in the future.

His reply..."I'm 7 and I want freedom now"! :)

Okay, I’ve tried the reverse psychology ... if everyone panics and buys everything she won’t hit ... on this bitch and she ain’t shifting much. When I get home we’re going to walk the property and check for weak branches, leaning/overhanging trees, etc and cut ‘em back. I’ll be clearing out the storage to store the outdoor stuff that could become a projectile in high winds. We pretty much stay stocked for power outages so no need do any shopping. Just need to pull out the storage bins of our storm stuff and wait. This ain’t lookin’ good ...

Costco is out of water everywhere from the coast to Charlotte. Most grocery chains as well.

There is no bottled water except a few bottles of expensive flavored water in the Garner Walmart. The placed was a madhouse a couple hours ago. No canned soups, some canned veggies left, no water, no loaf bread. Milk had just been restocked so that was there. Some camping stuff was cleaned out too. Seems a little early for a panic...

I just went for baby wipes and Clorox wipes. Just in case.

I bet UPS and fedex are seeing a PILE of orders for Wed delivery today...

No water at Harris Teeter and Costco, a little bit left at Food Lion. I was in Lowe's on Sunday for something totally irrelevant, and for poops and giggles checked out their inventory, no chainsaws or generators.

ECU cancelled class afternoon tomorrow for the rest of the week.

Side note on Jim Cantori...ole Pard of mine from Nags Head says Cantori is Persona Non Grata in Hatteras and on the Outer Banks. Says the last time he was there he left a $600 bar tab!!!!!!!

I just heard they are evacuating coastal counties in SC by order of .gov. Is this true?? My mom and sis are down there in Mt. P.

Yes, it was on T.V. The entire South Carolina coast counties are under a Mandatory evacuation by order of the Governor.

"They" say it will be taking place soon. Perhaps tomorrow. Of course I ain't goin anywhere. Started the year with 11 big oak trees, down to 10 now. Lost one over 150 years old. We will be here to see what happens. 70 years of investment here. Can't leave it.
Going to Darlington Dragstrip tomorrow for Hot Rod Drag Week. Finding out who has the meanest street car in America. These cars will race at 5 dragstrips with a total of over 1,000 miles on the road. cars must be driven from city to city. Big fun!!

Gotta think outside the box on water- dont forget the drugstores, dollar stores, etc. as the grocery chains are getting hammered. Kmart, Target, Walmart, even the local inconvenience store may have some.

Don't forget about your water heater. We have 80 gallons right in the garage. Just some sediment that needs to be cleaned out.

Google to double-check me, but what I see online shows even a 3/4hp pump would pull a max of 3000 watts at startup. So you'd be great with a 5000w generator
Better check on if it's 220.

Watts are still the same, right? It's just amps that change if voltage changes?
Or do you mean make sure the 5000 W generator has a 220 outlet?

My "inexpensive" Troybuilt generator had a 220 outlet

Might want to double check. Many have a 220 looking outlet, but it's really a twist-lock connector for 110. I only have an old 7500watt unit that has 220. I don't know the design parameters for 220. Maybe someone can chime in.

Good point. I am looking at pics of new ones and they have that 120/240volt twist lock connector that I have no idea what it is for. I always plugged in the 120v pigtail for the sump pump and watched my basement flood anyway.
