The gas tank vent tube on my Husqvarna chainsaw (345) has come off. According to the net, the tube shrinks. It has yellowed and I can't get it back on.

What size tube is it and how much of a pain is it to replace? How much might it cost to get a shop to do it?

It’s generally not hard. Find replacement silicone tubing.

There’s a couple web parts sellers that might have exact replacement , you’ll most likely need the thru tank grommet as well. If you’re mechanical, no problem to do it

What yr. ?

Don't remember what year - probably 5 or so years old. I use to be an avid DIYer - now I'm old.
I like the saw - really easy to start and cuts well. Has only seen light duty as it is for homeowner use.

Going to need more info on the saw. Looks like 10 different models. And I'm only seeing them at 10 years old and older.
Is the handle and gas tank one piece?

If its just the flexible tube....you can buy that at Ace, Amazon, Ereplacement parts, or any outdoor/landscaping supply place. Its probably the same size as the fuel lines. You can buy a 24 inch section for a few dollars. Fuel with ethanol will cause them to get brittle and break prematurely. When you get the new one, put a little oil over the barbed fitting and it should slide on easily.

The handle and tank are one piece. Yes, I only use non-alcohol fuel. Engines run better and last longer. The end of the tube that I can see fits on a barb, no grommet involved. Don't know about the other end until I take it apart but I'm guessing it's the same. It seems to me that Husky changes the model number frequently but the saws are basically the same.

You may be able to find tubing at Home Depot/Lowes in the lawn mower parts section.

go to an ace hardware and take a piece of the gas line with you and they give you the right size line get you a couple feet of it then you'll have enough for when it does it again
