A friend gave me a discontinued Traditions Buckskinner carbine 50 cal w/ a 1/20 twist. It was missing a couple small parts, tang screw and barrel wedge, no biggie....right?

It had been sitting up awhile, so I decided to take it down to give it a good cleaning. Lock, stock, and barrel, so to speak, all came off relatively easy.

I’m not a muzzleloader guy, this is my first one actually, but how was I supposed to know to not take off the powder drum unless I wanted to replace it, those things are in there! Marred it up good getting it out.
I haven’t even attempted to pull the breech plug, dont know if I even want to at this point.

Without too much finger pointing and name calling, can anyone point me in the right direction for a replacement? I’m guessing at this point I’ll have to get one not threaded for the nipple and drill/tap it myself.

@Chdamn could you move this over to the ‘smithin’ section?

I'm not sure I'm understanding what's going on. How is it broken?

Technically, it’s not. The powder drum looks like it was chewed on by a hangry Rosie O’Donnell. I could “probably” smooth it out, but not likely. Pretty deep gouges where the vise teeth were gripping it, all the way around. Pretty soft material.

I see. Dixie gun works like mentioned above is a good start. Perhaps track of the wolf.

Put pictures up, so we can see what’s going on. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand guesses.

Here ya go, the said powder drum I managed to mangle.

Looks like a CVA drum. Yep those were never ment to come out, the breech plug neither. I didn't find that out until I trashed a barrel trying to remove the breech plug to give it a " good cleaning" like you're supposed to do. Good luck on finding one, you may have to have one made. With the popularity of the inlines they have all but quit making side locks and parts.

Measure it and start looking. Like was said you may have to have one made or alter an existing one.

Yep, I expect you all are right, I found a few on Track Of the Wolf, just need to measure the thread and make sure I get the right one. Still gonna have to buy their jig to drill and tap for the nipple.
