Yes, it seems guns are now cool. What’s not cool is that they want guns because they feel unsafe but, are unable to connect that “unsafeness” with their politics.

Considering the source, that article was surprisingly well written and painted legacy gun owners in a positive light.

I’ll take a different approach to this. I’m glad peoples eyes are being opened more and more that the 2nd isn’t about deer hunting. Hopefully they will start seeing that it is their own politics that infringe upon their ability for self defense and that will start a shift. Do I think it will happen? No, not really. But, I believe in freedom, and that means even people that I disagree with should enjoy the exact same freedoms as I do, and that includes the right to keep and bear arms.

I also like the fact that it is, at times, breaking stereotypes. As seen in the article, liberals seeing that not all gun owners are racist bigots is only a positive. We need to get back to a perspective that just because I disagree with you it doesn’t mean I hate you and wish you harm.

I was surprised by how the “instructor” demonstrated how to identify the chambering of a handgun.

We, white males, joke about having to turn in our Man Card if we drive a certain type vehicle, drink a certain beverage, watch certain movies, etc. Ironically some people in this article mention, and not jokingly, they don’t feel comfortable with other in their social circles BUT we’re welcomed at the range or such but the “older white males”. Seems a little ironic that their ”inclusive” circles make them feel like they would actually revoke their whatever group cards and ostracize them for real … another gun owner myth struck down.

This is what surprises me about the article. They are scared of this. But went with showing them in a decent light instead of not running the story at all. Somebody screwed up, somebody is actually on our side, or they are up to something.

I’m registered Unaffiliated because the R’s aren’t conservative enough for me. So I get both kinds knocking on my door. I offer every one of them a smile, thanks for coming by, and a bottle of water. When I’m working the polls on Election Day, and there is someone there representing the opposition, I greet them and compliment them on their nose ring. Never discuss politics with them. It never hurts to be nice and it’s a lot less stressful than the alternative.

Hard to do that sometimes. I got a text message today from a Dem campaigner saying thier first priority is inflation so please help turn NC blue. I had to reply back with a snarky comment about not voting for cause of the inflation.

Yea, that would be a tough one to let slide by. I can be nice to my MIL until she starts up. Then I ask her if I can get her anything from the store while I’m out.
