We've got enough welders around this place to build you a nice 1/2" steel box for that thing to sit in. I'd pay good money to see some dipwad take a swing at that with a bat.

Back in 1970 we had idiots up the street taking our mailbox as well as some of the neighbors. We dug 3' deep hole and put a scrap of aluminum plate attached to a flange to take the steel pipe post to hold the mailbox up. Idiot tried to pull it out of the ground, ended up with a hernia.
Week later they tried to hit it with a car or truck, tore out the brake line, brake fluid trail going up the street. Did not damage the pole or mailbox.

I've got some 4" x 0.25" wall steel pipe I'd be willing to donate to the cause. I could even weld a plate to one end to mount the mailbox to, then you just sink the other end a few feet down in concrete.
