Dammittohell, I wish I never had to turn one of the blasted things on. I can’t even get a new legit copy of Windows 10 to fricking install.

I'll take it. ;)

I'll just keep plugging away with my 7 year old Mac that upgrades to the latest OS all by itself while I nap...

What error message you getting or what is happening?

How old of a computer are you trying to put the OS on? You know if the computer had vista or below your better off getting a totally different machine. Or if it doesn't have a HDMI port you need to look at another machine as well

I've found that while you can install new windows over old windows it's best to copy everything you want to keep to an external device, wipe the hard disk and start over.

Just way less BS all round.

I tried to wipe the HD by taking it out & sticking it to a big magnet overnight & it’s still fricked up.

I’ll try that. I’m running a HD scan now. I thought my Win 7 was screwed up & have a new 10 usb & thought I would install 10 & solve my problems. When scan is done I’ll uninstall Chrome.

I’m running 7 ultimate. Troubleshooter won’t work & cant even get on the internet. I’m tired of buying a new one every 2-3 years. I’ve wasted enough time to sew enough of this backlog of belts & holsters to but a couple new puters.

I mean, context and all, but, but, ... I'm speechless!

Sheesh, I ran the "never10" software to block that $h*t. Now I find out that my wife is bringing it into the house with her new machine. I'm worried that it will get me in my sleep or something.

Seriously though, I'm in the middle of movimg house but I'll see if I can find a copy with a code. I have several stashed somewhere.

Linux may be your answer. My fricken' computer is 10 yrs old and still fricken' works.

ETA: What do you need to do with this computer?

My Lenovo X1 CARBON handled the w8 to w10 update very well.
My some has a newer Lenovo gaming laptop and was ankle to easily set up dual boot with Ubuntu Linux. He is not a software engineer. But he managed to figure it out.
The one shared desktop to we have is a Linux built tower from Zareason running Ubuntu.
Systems older than 6 or 7 years will not run Windows 8 or 10 well if at all.
Had to reset my wife's laptop back to factory w7 after trying w8. Later we tried W10, it still locked up the hard drive and required resetting back.

The patient is currently in recovery, and healing nicely. Funny what a steady hand, an SSD and 16GB of Ram will do when paired up with a 'modern' OS like Windows 10 pro.
