So the excitement of completing my build last night quickly vanished when I couldn't figure out why my slide would get locked back and frozen. It’s freezing up past the slide lock/release. When manually cycling the gun it will get stuck and if I tap on the muzzle of the barrel with my palm while pulling back on the slide it will go back home. It's almost like the barrel is moving forward and getting stuck on the inside of the slide. I looked for wear marks inside the slide and used some 400 grit sandpaper, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Any suggestions on what to do next?

I have sanded out the guide rod channel so it moves freely and the takedown lever spring is flush.

The slide release is not activated in the photo. The slide is stuck on it's own.

To test if my frame was the problem I put my new top end on my Gen 4 lower and it replicates the same malfunction. The slide gets stuck and you need to whack the muzzle to unlock the barrel. I'm thinking it's the slide/barrel, but not sure how to fix it.

What kind of barrel is that?

Remove the barrel.

Look at the front of the slide where the barrel slides through the round hole.

Sand the top of the hole just under the iron sight.

Thanks for the reply, Mark. Would there be signs of rubbing on the front of the barrel if that needed to be sanded down? I only have wear around the barrel hood. Thanks.

Make sure the slide lock spring is pushed all the way in. Look at a factory Glock to get a idea how far it goes.

Good idea, thanks. I’ll double check when I get home, but the slide did the same thing on my factory frame.

No the barrel won’t have any signs on it. The coating is to thick on the top portion of the hole under the iron sight.

Honestly I have fixed way too many Loki products. I hate to say that.

I'm not a Gluck guru, but...

If you still have your original barrel, compare its profile (from all angles) to the problem barrel to is if there is a noticeble difference between the two. I suspect there's something about the new barrel that just isn't happy with the slide.

The guru has spoken, thank you. I’ll look as soon as I get home. Just to be clear I’ll be sanding the inside top of the slide hole, correct? So, would that be visible from the front of the slide after it’s assembled?

No. You can use a Dremel or hand sand it but you can’t see it when it’s all back together.

Just take all the coating off. No need to remove metal.

Mark, I just wanted to follow up and say thank you for the help. The slide blank ended up being way out of spec where the barrel comes through the front.

I started with sand paper and ended up with a dremel and a pile of metal dust. I removed a good bit of material and it still was making contact with the barrel when I would try to slide it through. I ended up sending it back to loki where they opened it up and recoated it.
