I really dislike my neighbors....

I wish we had the option, I think the idea came up at a meeting and went over like a lead balloon. The people that use it want the rest of us to pay for their entertainment, claiming it adds value to all of our homes. Believe me when I tell you that the cement pond is tiny and I have yet to hear anyone say they moved to this hood because of the toilet, err pool, that is here.

Our pool was very nice in 1995 when it was installed. Near Olympic size in the main pool with a big kids area. But my neighborhood was full of Dr's and lawyers in big brick houses built in the mid 1990's. Then the builder got into trouble and about 40-50 houses stopped building. Fast forward to 2017 new developers came in building 100's of houses starting in the mid 200's. The new developer would be smart to drop the cost to 300 for a pool pass considering it's only open 4 months. If the did that they would make WAY more money than they are now and be able to upgrade to a company that would clean the facility. But no they are stuck in the 90's.

Again the door needs to open out ... and really worked best on metal doors with metal door jambs.

All our dorm room doors opened inward and were cheap hollow wood with a lot of flex. We never used duct tape though. Tape holds fingerprints/fibers/etc.

I'm so glad the nearest neighbor is a mile down the road through the woods. The thought of looking out a window and seeing another house gives me the creeps. You poor bastards. :(

I had a problem with a neighbor’s dogs at one time. They had several that they just let run anywhere they pleased. One would try to sneak up on you while you were working in the garden. It finally bit the back of my Granddaughter’s leg one day. I got the dog by the collar with pistol in hand, and lead the dog to mr crackhead. Had a brief conversation. Went good for a couple of weeks. Then it started all over again. Finally made some homemade pepper spray out of Carolina reapers. I would make sure the bottle squirted good before leaving my home or coming back by Jimmy crack corns place . The dog would run away from my vehicle after a couple squirts of liquid fire. I was also wanting to spray jimmy crack corn, but it didn’t happen. Sorry for the long post .

Since we are on the subject of irresponsible pet owners, I'd like to rant a little on you cat owners out there. I don't want your cats crapping in my flower beds and pine needles anymore than I want your dog running lose in my yard. The damn things cover their crap so you can't see it until you step in it and release it's vile odor. Keep your damn cats out of my yard if you don't want them shot either.

I have a cat, she’s inside only.

The other neighbor has an outside cat . It has learned , quickly I might add, not to cross the street.

I now park my newly painted truck in the garage because there's already a scratch on the hood from one of those buttholes jumping from it to the top.

And yeah, poop in pine needles.

Nearly all doors open inward ... you need to make a door bar with a hook that grabs the door handle so they can’t pull the door open. If anyone were to ever do so making it of wood salvaged from old door jams and use standard framing nails will pretty much hide it as long as the fire burns long enough.
Depending on how cheap the door is you can "penny them in" (old college dorm trick). A couple pennies lying around the ashes isn't too suspicious.
Pennying works pretty good. We always liked rope and a 2x4. Then that was followed up with a deep commercial dust pan jammed under the door and a trash can full of water poured into it. Sometimes it was manilla envelopes full of shaving cream slid under the door and stomped. Then, one day a guy squirted lighter fluid under the door.

Years ago I had a neighbor complain about my outdoor cat. I just told her better the cat crappin in her garden than me.

I had a neighbor catch me shooting her cat with my slingshot. I told her if we didn't live in the city limits, I would be using a 12 guage. If I wanted cat s#*t in my yard, I'd get my own damn cat.

Well, when something is outside, then it does get nature on it sometimes.

Exactly...its not like you can train birds and cats where to crap or hang out...
Dogs are a bit of different story. Dog on a leash? Its certainly under some control of these things, and even then the owner can pick it up when appropriate like a lawn or whatever (and if so cool, if not theyre an ass).
Free roaming dogs (while I dont agree with but its prominent in my area) is gonna go where it wants.. cats too. And while both could be annoying (cats..meh who cares), I dont agree with ever harming someones pet because it is doing its thing and doesnt know any better.

You can train a cat where to crap by keeping it indoors. There is no good reason, in a neighborhood of half to one acre lots, to let your cats roam free.

That is, of course, just my opinion.

Why is it ok for cat owners to let their pet roam free but not dog owners? If your cat is roaming free in my yard he's going to be getting a BB or slingshot up his butt. Be a responsible pet owner of you have a cat or dog.

That is a good point, touching on litter box training. How many people train let alone care where a cat craps when it is outdoors?
As to letting em out in the first place...I think it just depends..in a neighborhood, sure. Let em roam eat mice and do their thing.
Rural...no..as an example our cats now are indoors only..too much wild life that poses a threat, and besides that Im not climbing a tree in the woods to rescue one at this point in my life.

When my old neighbor talked to me about my old outdor cat years ago, it was kinda funny as she had 2 outdoor cats of her own. So it was like, your kidding me here right?

I am just not cool with people shooting cats and dogs (self defense from attacking animal is different story). How would you react if someone did that to your pet? Or just kicked your dog in the ribs because it crapped on a lawn? Pets are like family to most people.. I get that people dont like certain things like cat crap in a flower bed, but harming a defenseless pet just isnt cool with me at all. There are other deterrents vs harming it.

It's the irresponsible owner that is harming the pets. Not the neighbor that doesn't want cat poop and dog poop in their yard. And why would you ever have to rescue a cat from a tree? Have you ever seen a dead cat in a tree?

Ha ha, my BIL's father was a fire chief for a LONG time in the SC Low Country. He had an elderly lady call him to come get a cat down, and he told her it would eventually come down on its own. She wanted him to get it anyway. He finally got exasperated, and said, "Lady, have you ever seen any cat skeletons in trees??!! The cat WILL get hungry, and it WILL come down!!"

I love animals. I've had both cats and/or dogs my whole life. They've always been indoor animals. That said, I may be aware of outdoor cats and dogs that were illegally roaming the neighborhood (leash laws are a thing) that have been repelled from a yard with a Red Ryder. They don't ever come back.

My grandparent always had barn cats. Never indoors. Never fed. When we were kids, we were told to just leave them alone. They weren't pets.
We had an indoor cat. Never again. She wasn't a bad kitty, but the house still had an odor. I can walk into a pristine house and know immediately if they have an indoor cat.

Beside that, in the end, they own you.

I get paid to rescue cats from trees. I always ask the customer if they have ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree.

I am fortunate, my neighbors are all pretty cool. My next door neighbor is sketchy (he does have a rap sheet) and lets his yard go to hell, but he doesn't say squat to anyone about anything, so as much as it's an eyesore, it could be worse.

I love not having a HOA anymore (our last house, we had one). It does come with some drawbacks.

Eh, I have an HOA and I have the same neighbor in profile. I fail to see what the drawback is not having one. You're better off.

Going to have to disagree there. The owner didn't pull the trigger. It was the DB that couldn't control themselves and that wanted to hurt a defenseless animal that did.

Guess this is one of the benefits I will have being in an HOA. Cant get a weekend home soon enough though

If that is screenshot of your property...I hate you...

here's mine

Where is that?!?
Yes it is. The line to the right of the house toward the river is a 200 yard+ range with plates, and the food plot as well.
We've fixed up and moved/bought ~18 homes in 30 years to get here. This is the 3rd one we were the GC's and built our home.

ETA ... start organizing a CFF Memorial Day Party then a July 4th CFF Party and so on. A bunch of Open Carrying members milling around in plain site. Then there could even be quite a few dozen empty bottles that some how get dry ice and a little water in them some how “pop” up from time to time. I’m sure quite a few members here know how to rattle other’s cages in various ways ;).
Some of us could bring BP cannons :D

My sister used to live in a large (50,000 resident) planned community township just north of Houston, called The Woodlands. It's beautiful, but HOA hell. The pic above kinda reminds me of it.

My little neighborhood is right in the middle of a pitched email turf war.
And by “turf war”, I mean everyone's mad about the landscaping.

First world problem and I’m stayin’ out of it.

no the DB owner didn’t pull the trigger, but the db owner did, let them breed, ignore leash laws, didn’t practice common courtesy. I’ve dispatched several feral cats in my time. Feral. Wild. Owners feed them but that it. It’s not my responsibility to make sure they stay out of my flower beds, off my cars, or keep them from harming the birds folks feed. Same thing with dogs. When I had cows, I caught one dog chasing them several times. The owners were given two chances. They didn’t get a third chance. They were shocked when the responding deputy sided with me. I take care of my pets and make sure they aren’t a nuisance, if you don’t, that’s on you.

ETA: before you all decide I should be burned at the stake, I’m as tender hearted as it gets where animals are concerned. But like anyone else, I have a limit
