I sorta want an 8 round .357 just because more seems better

Understand your position, too, but I got over it with some of their newer offerings that weren't offered pre-lock, like the PD series and the R8/TRR8. Lock deletes take care of any concerns I had with the lock, though I do wish they would get rid of them completely.

I don't buy anything with a lock on it either, unless it's something that just plain isn't available without.

I have a 500 magnum, but I bought it used and plus it's just a toy.
I hope to find a no-lock 627 one day.

I like the look but if I had to pick between a quality red dot and cosmetic upgrades - I am taking the dot. After ringing plates at 100 yards with handguns with a dot - I am a believer

Oh I'm not discounting the dot at all...
I would just like to see it minus the optic..

And would definitely take the complete package šŸ‘
But with that said, that model was made for breach teams and so doubt a dot would be a plus in CQB or room clearing ...

Yeah at across the room distance- I love my 627 but I donā€™t have all the rails. It is a great shooter and I like the N frame 357 - you can shoot magnums easily. 38 special is virtually no recoil at all. My goal is to shoot more pistol matches with it - I wont win against hi cap comp guns - but I will continue to improve shooting and reloading on the move
