My basement level was “finished” by the previous owner. He was some type of engineer, so obviously there’s not a single freaking thing that makes sense down here.

For example, in the roughly 317 various fixtures he put up, there’s not a single common bulb (as in readily available at Ace).

I’m having a hard time ID’ing this particular little guy that came out of a bathroom fan/light combo.

Any suggestions?

Halogen, like in a car. Could be any wattage. Is there nothing printed on the base?

When you install the replacement, if it is indeed quartz/tungsten halogen don’t touch the bulb with bare fingers. Use tissue paper. I’d explain it, but it would require a power point presentation. I used to work for Sylvania from 79-89.

Only touch halogen bulbs after they've been on for at least 5 minutes.

Lots of fixtures from China and IKEA don't include the bulbs or tell you the type needed. 12V bulbs have straight bipins closer so you can't plug it into a 120V lamp socket. Once powered on the filament in halogen bulbs reaches 3,000 degrees!

I hate those lights that don't have the replacement bulbs identified with them.

My wife has a desk lamp style light near the kitchen sink that takes one of those bulbs. I ended up walking the bulb aisle at Lowes and matching it visually. Then I used a Sharpie to write the bulb part number on the bottom of the lamp.
