@fieldgrade
Smallest I have in 9mm is an FNS9c.
It's new to me and don't have many rounds down the pipe yet.
Wife's got a g43 but I can't shoot it worth a darn at this point.

The G43 runs really great for me at BUG matches. It's my every day carry.

The FN you have is a smidge larger than the rules "allow"... but you can shoot whatever you want at a local bug match for no score in no one will care.

Specs for BUG guns.

8.2.8 Semi-Automatic BUG (BUG-S) Handguns permitted for use in BUG-S must:

  1. Be semi-automatic.

  2. Be single action, double action, double action only, or striker fired.

  3. Use .380 ACP or larger cartridges.

  4. Barrel length of 3 1/2" or less.

  5. The unloaded firearm with the heaviest magazine must weigh 26 oz. or less.

  6. The firearm with the largest magazine inserted must fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 6 1/2" x 4 5/8" x 1 3/8".

Good deal, thanks.
The website says 1000 for start time, but now I see that start time is noon. What time should we show up to register?
11:00

How many rounds should we bring for this match on Saturday?
I always bring 150 and have never been short.
Remember, this is the annual Day/Night match. We basically shoot a regular six stage match, finish, eat dinner at the food truck that's coming or drive into Benson and eat, return and shoot the same match over, but in the dark with handheld lights. Two matches.

You can register to just shoot the day match for $20, or both for $30.

Won't be able to make the night shoot, but I should have my wife with me this time! Grandma is coming to free her from the kids. Couldn't convince her to shoot it, but it will be nice to have a cheerleader - and a cute one at that!

NChiker is right on the money for a regular match but remember this one it is two matches in one so double up. I’d also take advantage of the night match and bring enough of your every day carry ammo to see the muzzle flash compared to target ammo. It may vary from lot to lot but you’ll get a good idea.

We did this at the Hackathorn Vickers class, where everyone got to shoot their carry ammo one at a time while the rest of us watched in the dark. It was a real education.

My experience from this match last year is you don't need, or really even want a real bright light. I run my Streamlight ProTac 2AA (which is only 250 lumens on high) on the low setting. You don't blind yourself as much. We'll actually shoot two targets with no light. We did this training a couple of weeks ago and I was amazed what one can do in the dark shooting head shots with a handgun they are familiar with

I hate I have to miss this....looks like, sounds like much fun, and educational.
But as long as I can get off work I will be at the BUG match.
Good luck and safe shooting everyone.
Video!! Video!! Post up videos.

Looking forward to the match this weekend, it’ll be my first time shooting in the dark. How late does the night match typically run? Also for the night match do you still draw from concealment?

It depends on how many shooters we have but we'll probably be done around 9:30 or so.

Yes you will draw from concealment. The night match is the same as the day match only it's dark!

Very dark! Just remember to take your time especially on the "load and make ready" and "unload and show clear." Things are more complicated when you cannot see clearly. Voice of experience from the night match last year.

You got that right.

Was it the night match when @bigfelipe's Glock blew up??

Always a lesson learned at the night matches.

Last night's lesson? You can shoot very accurately in the dark without a light and without nightsights if you are familiar with your gun, but you can't always distinguish friend from foe. That cost me 20 seconds due to very accurately engaging a non-threat, when it should have been the threat next to it. And had no clue till the end of the stage when we scored.

H20 and Amp ran a great match, as always.

That was a great time yesterday, both the day and night match. I was thinking on the way home last night that I wish I could shoot that more than once a year, I think a spring and fall match would be perfect when the weather is mild like it was yesterday.

Great matches. Usually have a second Sat conflict but I will try to make it again. Long time no IDPA so it was fun to try it again.

Had a great time, I shot fast during the day but my points down hurt me, and never shot at night before, awesome learning experience!

You all have heard the saying "Don't outrun your headlights" well I did on 1 stage and hit a non-threat because I was shooting too fast.

Funny how stage 1 did that. I know at least four of us who shot stage 1 in the dark. I got all kinds of sideways on that.
