Justice Thomas stressed: “If a broad ban on firearms can be upheld based on conjecture that the public might feel safer (while being no safer at all), then the Second Amendment guarantees nothing.

He's right...Amendment II is not a guarantee, but an affirmation.

The right lies in the hands of the citizenry and the citizenry only. It's fate is not dependent upon the President, Congress or nine black-robed justices.

Did they take it up?

Pretty good article, thanks for posting.

I don’t think we’ll know if they plan to take it up for weeks or months, nothing happens fast at the court.

If allowed to Stand. lefty states will begin banning all handguns and rifles and shotguns with the exception of muzzle loaders, bolt action rifles that hold no more than 3 rounds, breach loading single shot rifles, breach loading single and double barrel shotguns.
That is what Bernie said he would do if he could.

The issue in reality lies neither with Congress NOR with the USSC. If you breathlessly pant for hope that the US Government (first by Congress, then by the USSC) will decide by its own self erogated power to limit its own power, then you deserve the tyranny you get. The only way to reign in their power is to TAKE BACK THE POWER, and that provision is clearly offered to us in an article V constitutional convention, where the states can wrest power from a runaway fed. The fact is that ANY federal laws restricting citizens in sovereign states from having firearms or controlling their use, sale or handling -so long as they don't cross state lines - are null and void, according to the 10th amendment. We have, as states, allowed a perverted 14th amendment to be used as a bludgeon against states sovereignty to the point that frankly we should just shut down state governments and move them all to DC and let congress decide what they will permit those "sovereign" (whoops! popped a hernia laughing at that one!) states to do.

As long as "conservatives" imagine themselves patriotic defenders of the constitution, while emulating chicken little wailing "runaway convention! runaway convention!" then frankly they deserve the runaway federal government they get by not using the tools they have.

Good luck with your court case.

They actually have that sovereign right, under the constitution as worded. They should be allowed to leave the union if they wish, but the wrongful imposition of the 14th on states rights is a huge blunder by conservatives.

Congress has a duty to uphold the 2nd as written. The courts duty is to strike them (congress) down when they violate that duty. It should be obvious.

I don't quite see where the USSC has the authority to strike down state law. The constitution was written to restrict the fed, not the states.

Again, it is by virtue of power that they assumed upon themselves via incorporation of the constitution on to the states. In short, the states are not allowed to violate it either. We (here) also intuitively understand how much of the lefty gun control goes against the constitution and the only reason that it has been "upheld" is because of corrupt courts making it up as they go and people being willing to accept that rule.
