Precis: it may be that the husband of the state senator (D) involved in a recent carjacking may have fired in response.

Various obvious questions arise, not least of which is whether this story will be quietly smothered given the lack of narrative fit.

My dad always told me the at the core of their beliefs, democrats always feel like they know what's best for everybody so they should get to decide and you should just follow along for your own benefit. Interesting part is when they start thinking like that about each other. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

This is why I should be president. At the core of my beliefs is an abundant acceptance of the fact that I barely know what’s best for myself, and y’all out there surviving like me must be doing something ok, so just keep doing that.

I’ve always said my campaign would focus on how I am less corrupt than the incumbent. Not that I am more moral (although I might be), but because I simply don’t know the game well enough to be as corrupt as they are.

Those are good ideas no question. I saw a good proverb last week for leaders to use, "don't always know all the answers, it's best to know some of the questions."

Now, is this moron expecting us to just completely overlook the fact that her husband was "conceal and carry" but she wants More gun control.
More and more I come to the realization that people need to start ignoring the edicts of the politicians. Stop playing the game. The catch is that while every “law” they try to proclaim is backed by escalating force, up to and including death, so will be the response telling them to go pound sand.

I'm with you sir. We simply cannot sit on our hands and be quiet which is exactly overlooking as you called it correctly in your post. We have to push back on this hypocrisy from the other side.

The money quote in the article: "It was a lot of shots being fired. I think they were shooting at my husband and me and luckily enough my husband is concealed and carry and he was able to protect us," Lightford said about the incident in an interview with ABC 7.

Then how about step away from your party line hypocrisy long enough Ms. Lightford to say thank you for responsible firearm ownership, adequate supplies of ammunition to allow your husband to load his weapon, and then express how much you appreciate living in a country founded on those beliefs which allowed him to protect your lives ?

I guess that part of it simply does not exist in your world that is bent on controlling the rest of us underlings.

If pushed she will probably say that she is not against the 2nd, but supports reasonable control like magazine limits, banning assault weapons, etc. wWould be nice to know what handgun her husband used so we could call out any hypocrisy on magazine capacity.

She voted against concealed carry every time it came up, even after a judge struck down Illinois long standing ban on carry and ordered the general assembly to pass permissive regulations in the spirit of the 2nd or he'll throw open the gates and allow constitutional carry.

My sister thinks only people like her and her husband should be allowed to have guns. Typical Democrat.

Chicago used to think so too. They had passed a law that considered city council members as conservators of the peace. It was a carve out that allowed them to carry, with no training mind you. These same people wanted to require 40 hours of training for carry when it finally happened.

True for just about any rules.

The proverbial purist priest/preacher is giving you a concise play-by-play and complete morality plan for you to strictly live your life by……. while you are tithing and he is buggering your child.

That guy you know that is most jealous of his wife? He’d be the very first guy to screw yours.

I have never known a gun control advocate (and I know more than a few) who did not believe they were above the laws they advocated for others.

"Thing that got me was not her list of things she hated, since she was obviously crazy as a Cyborg, but fact that always somebody agreed with her prohibitions. Must be a yearning deep in human heart to stop other people from doing as they please. Rules, laws — always for other fellow. A murky part of us, something we had before we came down out of trees, and failed to shuck when we stood up. Because not one of those people said: "Please pass this so that I won't be able to do something I know I should stop." Nyet, tovarishchee, was always something they hated to see neighbors doing. Stop them "for their own good" — not because speaker claimed to be harmed by it."
