I'm looking for a short inexpensive rifle case, something around 36"x12". I'm just looking for a case that I will use to cart the rifle in my truck, not to fly or ship. Seems like everything I find is around $100, trying to keep it around $50.
If it will fit in a sub gun case, the Savior bags are really nice. If it needs a true 36" or larger, their rifle bags jump up another $25 or so, but are still a good value.
Sportsman guide is running a sale on 36" and 43" Bulldog Tactical soft cases for $15.30 for members and a little more if your not a member. I just ordered one for my AR
For really basic soft cases without additional pockets, I like the Bulldog brand. I have a number of their basic tapered rifle cases and they have held up great with various rifles and shotguns. They’re usually like $20-30ea these days.
But since this is for carrying to the truck and back, no reason to spend more than $30-$35.
I have been pleased with Midway’s line. I use this one in the 36” version for the exact purpose you described. Fits all my 16” AR’s and 11.5” w/ suppressor attached.
The MidwayUSA Discreet Tactical Rifle Case is the best way to transport your rifle without attracting unwanted attention. The subdued outside features...
i'm probably late to the crowd, but if you don't really need security on your case and just hoping for something cheap you can pick up a hard case from Walmart for about 20 bucks. it's not a super high quality option, but if you are just wanting to get from point a to b without damage it'll work. i have one for my AR as a matter of fact.
Flambeau makes a great plastic case that fits 40" or shorter, bolt gun with 20" barrel fits great, but much taller and more rectangle/square shaped instead of the long skinny hunting rifle type cases.
it's NOT a Pelican!! But much lighter and around $50 at LGS
I really like the one I have, but my son took it from me.
Please note the latches can fall off over time, but the for the light weight protection and low price, my #1 pick for rifle cases that are NOT flying
