Going down a deep rabbithole again. Anyone have any reccomendations For a decent rim fire?

Not too picky about bolt action or semi. Mostly for my kids to get some decent practice with and cause I like the low-key look most offerings have.

Been eyeing the gemtech mist variants as well as the Yankee hill 1022 barrels, but cz makes an interesting option for their 455 series guns. One where you can change the distance between baffles and the like, sounds good in theory at least.

Anyway any suggestions For options I have missed, or experience with the ones in have listed?

I do have 2 separate 22 cans in jail right now. Spectre and gemtech's ultralight can. So the lack of flexibility isn't a big concern.

I bought a Gemtech Mist barrel (ported), and sent it back to exchange for the non-ported version, which is easier to clean.
Everyone who shoots it, loves it. Lightweight and accurate, and very low-key.

I once thought that I wanted an integral, but have been happy with a black can screwed to a black bull barrel. It looks best of you sbr the rifle.

Screw on cans are great. Don't get me wrong. Even if I lose some flexibility of the platform there are still benefits that I can see to make it worth the investment.

I mean the fact that with almost all the options the rifle looks like a standard bull barreled 22lr isn't a bad thing in my book at the very least.

Maybe part of it is just that I am a bit old school. I mean I like reflex cans too, but they are admittedly sort of a dead end design wise

How was the accuracy? Did the lack of porting make the super sonic rounds any louder?

Accuracy on both was equal.
The ported barrel bleeds off pressure to slow supers down to subsonic :). (Standard velocity and subs also get slowed down :()
The non-ported barrel will still crack the sound barrier using supers. But, standard velocity are nice and quiet :D.

Not asking for exact numbers but possible to keep it all in a playing card sort of size at about 50 yards or so?

It took a few days to get out to the range. 9" paper plate with 1" circle @ 50 yds.
I was standing up, propped against a tree on a windy day, using cheap ammo, and a really cheap Tasco scope. (that's my excuse)
It does much better benched/bipod.
