So, I have a trust with several firearms/suppressors and this is the first time I’ve had to consider state line issues when shopping. If I live in NC with NC DL, can my trust purchase a suppressor in SC at a SC shop?

Not unless you have a trustee in SC. The 4473 has to be filled out by a resident of that state.

You could buy from an SC shop, but they’d have to transfer it (tax free via a Form 3) to a SOT in NC…who would likely charge you a transfer fee.

FWIW form 3 transfers are very fast. Ive been seeing 2-10 days here lately

Good to know, thanks. It’s been a while since I picked up a NFA item so I’ve lost track of how long approvals are taking. Seems pretty quick at least for 3s.
