Interesting battery power center box - why build one?

Okay. So I was interested enough to buy one.

The box is heavy polymer and is very roomy. Enough room for a Exide Group 34/78 Ultimate Orbital Spiral AGM, Battery Tender charger and Wagner 150/300 watt Pure Sine Wave inverter. Plus, more room for various connection and charging cables. The complete package is very strong, solid and the handle sturdy enough for the load. There are side handles as well. The lower half of the box isn't special. If the lower break or cracks over time, I can go to Auto Zone and get a same size box to transfer the power center top. A nice touch is the quick release buckle on the strap that hold the top to the bottom. Easy battery and accessories access.

Sure, I could have built something similar. I'm now old enough to know to do it, but don't have to do it. It has the package, voltages and breaker protected connections I need. It can be trickle maintained with the Battery Tender or quick charged directly by vehicle alternator.

I'm please with my purchase.

The Exide group 34/78 battery is swallowed by this box. The box is very deep, too. Plenty of room on top of the battery for a protective shield and carry cables on top of the battery. I'm going to insulate the top posts and use the side posts for connection.

Room aplenty for accessories and cables. Carry a ham sandwich in there, too. At least 1.5" above the battery for "stuff".

My current set up was a battery and a separate tool box for all that other stuff. This just might get ordered next week.

I've had this awhile. (I am copying my articles from the other forum.)

I can say, I have been perfectly satisfied with this box. I use it as my 24/7 radio backup on a Low Loss PWRgate. With Power Pole pigtails, I can unplug this battery solution from my system for portable use in seconds.

Thanks for posting this, let us know how it works out over time!

Are you still happy with the box Howard?

Yes. Very much so. I use it with AGM battery and Low Loss PWRgate as automatic base radio backup. Connected by Anderson Power Poles it can be disconnected and portable in seconds. Power a radio, jump off a car, it doesn't care.

It looks like it would hold a battery big enough to power my wife's smart phone all day.

I've found wives phones last much longer when they remember to charge them.

Mine uses over 10 GB a month...I'm thinking her battery woes could be eased if she quit using her data plan for every little thing in the world on the internet.
