Well my wife's car decided it didn't want to start yesterday. Jumped it, drove around for a while, parked it and it did the same thing. Tried it again with the same result, the battery just wouldn't hold a charge.

Took it back to Interstate in the nick of time it would seem. That particular battery has a 30 month warranty and I was in month 28. So my wife's car has a shiny new battery at no cost to me. I was in and out of there in about ten minutes. I give their warranty service an A+.

Most aftermarket car batteries sold in the United States are made by three companies that build them for retailers: Johnson Controls, which supplies more than half of the market, Exide, and East Penn. They are sold under various names and built to the specifications of retailers, so performance can vary.

My last Interstate made it seven years, two just shy of the Arctic circle. Died stone dead just out of prorated warranty. Not that I had the receipt anyway since it was bought thru a commercial account. Would've bought again, but weekend and not chasing down a retailer. My Motorcraft lasted five before it, more harsh winter's though. Some AGM years ago is the only car battery I've had that really sucked.

I buy all my auto batteries from Interstate. $25/ea, plus tax.

That’s one heck of a discount! Can’t buy a WM battery for that.
Go in and tell them you want a trade-in. Can't remember exactly what they call them. It's when they take one to a dealer and then it gets returned. Every one I've bought has tested good and been <6 months old.

My FIL does work there, and finds me one (which saves me the hassle), tests it, and brings it home...but I think the deal is available for everybody. No telling what label/sticker will be on the battery, but I've bought a couple and gotten several for friends and neighbors that way. I don't think it's a discount for employees. But maybe he said it was $30 for gen pop? I can ask him Sunday if he's at church.

I will certainly keep that in mind next time I or a friend need a battery. Thanks for the tip!
