If this is in the wrong section, please move. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes.

im looking for someone to teach me the basics of long range shooting.

I am open to both classes, or just someone who is proffecient in long range shooting. I say that because I am located in Greenville, SC and I think many of our vendors are a few hours drive from me. But I am willing to drive a bit to get a class, if there are any in the Charlotte area or Columbia but I think many of our vendors are based in NC.

J.R. It's a good bit farther than your stated area, but one the best around is located in Wytheville, VA. You should check out "Bang Steel". They have a pretty comprehensive web site and they run 2 day weekend classes or individual instruction. I have not attended any classes yet, but I have a neighbor that did and he was highly complementary (of course he also knows how jealous I am). he said they had a few of the guys shooting at a mile (that opportunity alone is worth it if you live on the east coast). Dan also competes on the PRS I believe and offers consulting on Optimum Charge Weight ammo tuning. If you follow Long range shooting blogs, you may have heard the 6.5 guys refer to Dan Newberry a few times.

Scheduling, pricing, equipment lists, selection, and curriculum are all covered pretty well on the web site. What's more, he definitely is not a rifle or scope snob. He lists reasonably priced gear that can get the job done.

You can check the out at www.bangsteel.com. If you get there before I do, I will try not to hate.

Hope this helps.

Panteao Productions has a range just south of Columbia. With their many instructors you should be able to find something suitable. Their forte is obviously to sell video instruction but check their site for live training.
