My pops wants irons on his main AR. I only use Magpul sights as back ups. He wants these to be the main sights. What would you recommend? He wants good quality, prefer American made. Thanks

I use Daniel Defense fixed sights as my back ups.

Well I’m still stuck in the picatinny rail days so I like good old Troy Battle sights with the HK style front. If you watch the sales you can pick up a set for about $150. That’s what I use for all BUIS and my oldest set aside from some of the anodizing rubbing off is as solid as they were the day I installed them. I’ve seen Aero Precision, Seekins and Diamond Heads which seem every bit as rugged but I just stick with what I know how to use without thinking.

There was a set of DD sights on arms list in Rock Hill recently. Needed a front sight post but price was good

I prefer HK style fronts and have recently found two interesting replacement front sight post from Average Guy Solutions that work very well, and may also interest you:

Primary Arms has DD, Troy, and several other fixed ones on sale. LMTs are nice, I have a set I love.

FSB sights and a carry handle?
I recently bought a 7.62x39 upper from PSA, and it came with a “F” marked front sight base. Been using a flip up rear, but ordered a carry handle today. It’s the only AR I’ve got with irons, and I plan on installing a tritium front post for HD.

Didn’t I just see a few days ago that Centurion re-released the C4 sights? Those were the best I have ever used. I sold the last set I bought and then they were discontinued for years until recently, I believe.

That being said, I’ve been running the DD sights for the past couple of years and like them as well.

These look fantastic! And I hate you for alerting me of this as now, I need a set.

I am going to end up buying more for myself for Christmas than everyone else combined!

EDIT: Lots of good options here on sale and there are also plenty of sets to be had in the classifieds of AR15.com

You will NOT regret it. The C4 sights are pretty amazing if you like the HK aperture.

Does his AR have a fixed front sight post? Another who suggest a detachable carrying handle or a MaTech BUIS.

I've no FSB then the only front sight I have experience with is the KAC folding front sight and they make excellent rear BUISs.
