Oh the irony.
Family member who implied I am a racist for voting for Trump, and thinks Gov't should run health care.
The kicker is that the IRS requires payment of all penalties before one is allowed to appeal even when they are obviously wrong.

The notice he got could also be a scam.

Exactly. The issues with health care delivery are all due to Gov't meddling. Granted, some of it was paid for by the insurance lobby. They needed cost to be driven up and hidden in order to create more customers.
Health care is the only service for which we have no idea what the cost is going to be until the bills start coming in.
[Only the very wealthy go a restaurant that doesn't have prices on the menu.]

If you received it on 30APR21, how could it be dated 3MAY21? That alone says scam

Learn to challenge those bills. Recently had a medical procedure done after inquiring about the cost. I was told insurance would pay 100% then got a bill for it after the fact. Called and challenged the bill because of what I was told. They wrote it off.
