Is 32 too young for a midlife crisis?

So.....I used to ride sportbikes when I was younger. I sold my last one, an 05 Triumph Daytona 650, about 10 years ago. I have only ridden 3 times since, all buddy's bikes. The itch has always been there, just didn't want to scratch it.......until about 3 months ago. One of my closest friends came home with a 2010 HD 883 Iron. Needless to say, the itch got real bad. Then I couldn't decide between sportbike or cruiser. I went to the local HD dealer friday just to kick some tires and weigh my options. I had no real intention on making a purchase. By the time I left, I had applied for financing on a newish bike, a 2017 Sportster 1200 Forty-Eight. In about 30 minutes I'll be picking it up. As I stated, it's newish. Only has 268 miles on it. By the time we got done crunching numbers, I got the bike, Vnace and Hines Big Radius pipes, stage 1 filter/housing, and a tune for the MSRP of the bike. I'm so excited. Aside from shooting and firefighting, motorcycling jas been my only real escape ver the years. I'm ready to put the miles on it.

A mid life crisis is only for people who don't have real problems to keep their attention on. I haven't reached that point yet.

Very nice. I hang onto my old Superglide just in case. Itch is kind of gone, but can't replace it for what I have in it and every once in a while it feels really good to get it out for a ride. That is one good looking bike you have there!

Sweet bike! Enjoy it.

I turn 30 next month and I really really miss having a bike. My last one was Triumph street triple.

My Night train I had in college...I sold it some time after ex-gf and I broke up. Shared a lot of memories on that bike.
Meredith girls love that bike :)

Just got back from the inaugural ride. Man, have I missed it! Just getting awat from everything: no phone, no radio, nothing. Just me and the bike. Now I'm just waiting on the pipes, air cleaner, and tune and I'll be set.

It will look good on you!
Recreation is not a mid life crisis! The more complex the mind, the more need for play.
Enjoy it and stay safe.

Congrats on the purchase!!!

I had what I called my midlife crisis (43 yo) a few months ago. I asked my wife if would be cheaper to get a diesel truck or a mistress. I ended up with an F250 Powerstroke and we're both happy. I'm not sure it was cheaper though. You only live once. Go ride.

I quit riding in '06. I miss it, but I acted the fool every time I was on it. I gave it up because I felt like the least that would happen would be a performance award from the SCHP. The worst would be permanent slumber.

I won't get another because I know exactly what will happen.

Nice bike, though. Please, stay safe.

Blue Ridge? I heard they are under new ownership and have been pretty aggressive ( in a good way ) with their pricing.

.

Congrats on the new scoot. I’m sure you will enjoy it. I thought I would be kicking tire two years ago when I went to Cox’s HD in Asheboro. Ended up buying a 2008 street bob. Rode it a few months and bought a 2013 road king with 133 miles in 2016. Traded it in for a 2016 Electra Glide Ultra Classic to make the old lady happy and have put 10,000 miles on it in less than a year.

Almost got hit by a guy on a bike last week, he was texting...

Nice bike, be safe.

Yeah, it was Blue Ridge. Got the price of the bike itself under $10k. Retail, iirc, is 13-14. Nice guys. It really was a pleasurable experience. Worked with me on extended service and the add-ons to keep the #s where they need to be.

Sorry to hear you went gramdpa style ! 2 wheel fever has me here lately too. But i get my kicks offroad.

Midlife crisis is more like losing a great paying job you had for 20 years at age 50. Buying and riding a bike just makes you feel good.

<<<< notice my name. I might know something about this. Yes, 32 is early. I hope you live longer than 64. I went to Skip Barber school at 50, learned how to drive and started racing a turbo Subaru. Enjoy your bike and your youth, hopefully mid-life comes later!

Here's what you need for a full on crisis. 334HP V8!

My first midlife crisis vehicle was a '78 CB750 that I bought in 1989. (Age 29)
Second, a 93 YJ I bought in 2001 for $5500 and spent over $16K on upgrades and repairs. (age 40)
3rd was a 2009 Buell XB12Ss. (age 48)
4th was a 2010 4 door Rubicon that I built up for off road fun. (Age 49)
5th sort of midlife crisis but more practical, 2012 Veloster.
