Is anyone hunting pigs?

I'm unemployed right now and as far as I know, I'll have the same status until May 4th.

I went out this afternoon and popped a sow. Looks like I'll be hunting a little more over the next few weeks.

A nothing fancy PSA stainless 8.5" upper on an even less impressive Anderson lower. Magpul carbine fixed stock. CMC two stage trigger. It's 2lb set, 2lb release. Leupold 3-9x40.

Ammo is handloaded 300blk Lehigh Defense 152gr controlled chaos at ~1700fps.

ETA: And a YHM Nitro 30...

Every time I visit my GA property I always walk the perimeter fence looking for signs but thank heaven nothing has shown up yet..... Hope my luck holds...

I live in Chatham County and no good hog hunting here. I wish I had a place though, I've always wanted to go.

I love hunting hogs! Killed several. Two were on public land here in NC.

Pubic land down east?

Nope

I've heard some down east on public land, but not anything up around me. To be honest, I am a little nervous about hunting public land during deer season so I haven't really looked into it.

Are those things edible?

I would imagine their crappy diet would cause them to taste like shat.

Crappy diet? These critters are eating better stuff than we are.

But yeah, the meat isn't going to be identical to the stuff you get at the store, but unless you really botch the processing, you're not going to say "Ewww!" when you eat it.

The ones we go after are ag destroyers ... soy bean fields, feed corn, an orchard, etc ... they are eating damn good. Ferals will eat about anything when needed be it animal, vegetable or mineral but they are fairly smart and go for the easiest and tastiest sources first.

We got the first pic of this guy in October of 2017, he was on this corn/ sweet potato pile twice that week. It's the only hog we've ever seen on our property. We have 1200 acres and run cameras 8-9 months out of the year. I was sure we were about to be infested, but he disappeared and hasn't been back. I'd love to have a place to hunt hogs but I don't want it to be on this tract of land.

Growing up we hunted them constantly with dogs in the mountains of sc and nc. Then I moved to the beach of sc and found out what hog infestations were. Mountains we were lucky to kill two a day, one day in longs sc, me and two other boys killed 9 within 200 yards of where we parked. They thought we were bringing corn to a buddy's deer stand and came out into the dirt road turnaround, he had warned us that they would do that. They didn't move when I got out of my truck, they did try to move when I dumped a dozen dogs out of the box, but it was too late by then. For twenty minutes it was run to a catch, knife the hog, call the dog off and head to the next squeal, most fun I've had hunting yet. I'll try to dig the pics out, but we rolled through north myrtle on our way home with over 1500 lbs of hog stacked in a Ford f250.
