Is there a new dishwasher currently manufactured that will....

Alright boys. Ordered the KitchenAid 604 series. All your help was MUCH appreciated.

Who cares if it dries the dishes? None of them do a very good job of that. Just let them drip dry. What's the big deal?

I just replaced the one I had for almost ten years. The dishes still have to drip dry, but the new model makes sammiches.

Skip that model. For the money you can get a better dishwasher. It's not the Bosch we brag about.

My KitchenAid 604 is supposed to be in Thursday. Will post up after I get it installed .

Good dishwashers are going to cost a bit of money. Go cheap and you get exactly that.

We had a good dishwasher lined up a few years ago to replace our previous one (my father-in-law was going to pay for it, so who was I to argue?).

Then a line of bullsh*t while I was out of town about it not being available until blah...blah...blah...this other one was just as good blah...blah...blah...

Bottom line...my wife chose another one without talking to me about what was going on.

We got a dishwasher that takes FOREVER to run a full cycle (yes, it does get them clean) but does a half-*ssed job at drying them.

I just rubbed my face in private and dealt with it.

When the dishes are done, I open up the dishwasher and partially pull the racks out to air dry and carry on with my life. Not worth it at this point.

If anything, I'd recommend a commercial grade dishwasher. But finding one for less than four figures is hard to do.

But here's a useful article on residential dishwashers and drying:

We just got a Bosch 800 series washer based partially on advice from this thread. Installing it was "fun" because the previous dishwasher had the power wire coming out of a HOLE IN THE FLOOR nearly in the middle of where the DW sits! I had to use the Bosch ($20) plastic junction box with the cord on it to attach to the dishwasher. After I got it all put in and threw the breaker, no joy! Hadta' pull it back out because I didn't get the plug pushed ALLLLLL the way in to seat. Once seated, runs good. The cycle does take a while but the Crystal Dry thingy does the job. Before the old washer wouldn't get the detergent residue (even with Jet Dry) off to Mrs. Giant's satisfaction so all glasses had to be rinsed in the sink. Glad to say, that is not an issue now. Thanks CFF for helping me to spend my $$$!

For what it's worth, I'll never recommend an appliance I don't have direct experience with. I either have one in my house or I've sold a metric crap ton of them and not had service issues supporting the sales.

I do appreciate that and that is partially what pushed us to the Bosch 800 vs the Kitchenaid.

Out with the old.
Do you know what's the hardest part of removing and installing a dishwasher?

Getting up off of the kitchen floor a dozen times.

"getting up off the floor" You ain't kidding.

That old Frigidaire drain hose won't fit the KitchenAid, FYI.

Good to know. I have a new one still in the bag.
Does the Kitchen aid have the male “garden” hose adapter for the water supply? I also have a new braided supply line with adapters if needed.

KitchenAid arrived with delivery truck. Box was perfectly intact when the guys lifted it off the truck and set it in my garage. I had them take the box off just so I wouldn’t have to fool with all that packaging, and lo and behold, two dings in the front of the appliance. Looks like it got boxed that way. Not encouraging about the condition of what I CAN’T see in the dishwasher. It went back with them.

Good call. You're thinking about this exactly right.

Next one that comes...inspect tub for dents from the inside. Just checking from the outside can be deceiving and difficult because the sound insulation hides stuff. Also inspect the clearance on either side with the door hinges. If it gets dropped in transit one side or the other door hinge will pop out and drag on the door when you open it.

This is good stuff to know. Thanks very much for that. I’m printing it off as a check list.

Having just installed a new Whirlpool for the adorable and long-suffering Miss Lily, all I can say is "PREACH BROTHER !"
This might explain why you weren’t in the shop when I stopped by this afternoon.
At home convalescing?
;)

Back to square one. After they delivered, and took back, a dinged dishwasher one week ago I've been trying valiantly to get someone on the phone to figure out what was going to happen next. Everyone has been very courteous WHEN I could get them on the phone, but no one could tell me anything till today. Communications have been a real failing in this deal.

Finally gave up and canceled the order.
:(

Still have to get customer service on the phone to process the refund, or just drive two towns over to do it in person.

There has got to be an easier way to buy appliances.

Wish @Metalliman27055 and @Timfoilhat were closer.

Where did you order from to get such crap service? We just got our Bosch from Garner Appliance and we couldn't be happier. Of course we picked it up at the loading dock and not delivery but I knew when they would order it and when it would arrive. We even got a Thank You card in the mail from the salesman the other day!

The purchase experience was good at Lowes. Once we had to send the appliance back is when the communications cratered.

Garner Appliance is not far. I may end up there.

Go there. I don't have any experience with them one way or the other, but a local dealer won't treat you like Lowes.

I bought my laundry for the new house from Lowes. NIGHTMARE communications. I only went there because I had my LG insider guy pulling strings to get me a super cheap discontinued set. Lowes lost my stock, transferred my order to South Carolina. They showed inventory, but didn't have it...then they found it again and delivered it. It was like two weeks screwing around, my LG guy was super embarrassed and I only persevered with them because I really wanted the set I got at the price I got it. We initially tried it with a dealer up near Hickory, but they didn't want to play ball delivering to Matthews (which I understand). Never again with Lowes.

wash the dishes, AND DRY THE DISHES?

In more mundane news, I ran the first actual load of dishes after grilling outside tonight. I am VERY pleased with this 604 series Kitchenaid with the ProDry feature. It actually dried everything. There was some water still left in the rims of some some large Tupperware, which is not surprising for any washer, but everything was otherwise clean and dry.

Mission accomplished.
