No, I'm actually not sure. I'm no arborist, just a wood-burning yayhoo with a lot of trees and a couple chain saws. The core of the cross-section looks a good bit redder in person than on my LG G7 pic, so I was assuming. I'm always glad to be educated though. I'll take a closer look at what's left of the leaves this morning.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Since I’m not sure I decided to leave it (it’s at a friend house). With the type of smoker I’m using, I’d rather not burn it unless I know it.

Again, it’s obviously a dark art to the ignorant but I’m going to do better and order a field guide.

That’s white oak - not red. 100%
