…. my local Maurice’s BBQ restaurant is closed due to “staffing shortage.” Next, go to the local Wendys and it’s closed “due to staffing shortage.” Go next to the local McDonalds and no one is up front running the register and it’s Kiosk ordering only “due to staffing shortage.” All on a freaking Saturday!!!

Our country is truly screwed.

It is what it is, make the best of it........ go to the grocery store and get stuff to make something really good!

I don't understand how the Starbucks and Chic Fillet never have a staffing problem nor a shortage of customers ....

Yeah my daughter applied and at her interview they gave her food and a drink. Then sent her a gift card when they told her they can only hire a limited number of 14 year olds but to keep applying.

Maybe, but it'll correct itself.

Right now it sucks, our gov (including the previous president, not just Biden) gave/is giving SO much money to NOT work, and now, along with inflation, it makes economical sense for some to just stay home.
It sucks. But it'll change.

You are so right , either man or nature will fix what man has destroyed.
 
I was in a Chic Fil A last week and saw a 10 and 11 year old working the register and the other running ice and paper products to the front. Yes I asked about there ages. The owner/operator was unable to work so he sent his kids to help. I assume they will not be part of a payroll. Thought that was cool teaching a work ethic at that age.

I was in the drive through line early mid 2020 and inquired of a grown woman outside about chic-filet pay ranges for one of my kids who was still in school. This woman had been working there awhile and recognized me as a regular. Her answer was $7-$8. I was really suprised. I am sure they have to pay more now.

The Culvers by my house has a sign saying $15/hr and a $5oo signing bonus. Have seen similar signs around town,

Many years ago, my brother-in-law's restaurant had a government inspector come by, investigating child labor violations. It seems one day, while a kitchen door was propped open, someone saw kids working in the kitchen and reported it. The official was pretty terse, talking about child labor laws, until my brother-in-law explained that they were his kids. To which the investigator responded, Oh, if their your kids, then never mind. You can work them all you want.
I found that laughingly humorous.
 
They keep up the miserly OT approach with me at work and I'll happily sign up for a $15/hr side job flipping burgers.

It ain't no buck-a-minute post tax job, but it would be a steady additional income.
