Here for your viewing pleasure in Glisenti Model 1910 9mm pistol serial number C 50. The pistol was a 9 mm calibre semi-automatic service pistol produced by the Italian company Società Siderugica Glisenti. Glisentia.jpg Glisentib.jpg Glisentic.jpg Glisentid.jpg Glisentie.jpg Glisentif.jpg Glisentig.jpg It was put in production in 1910 to replace the aging Bodeo Model 1889. It saw extensive service in World War I and World War II with the Italian Army. The Model 1910 has a complex and weak firing system which mandates that the pistol ought to use weaker cartridges than pistols of comparable caliber.

It's pretty easy to load 9mm Glisenti, we made some up for another old Italian pistol my dad got from who knows where. It's low 380 power levels in a 9x19 case. Really dumb solution, making pistols that can chamber rounds they're not strong enough to fire, but I guess Italians gotta... Italian? :)

Jeff Cooper said.....If Americans made a weapon that required 80 parts, the Germans would do it with 40 parts and the Italians would do it with 150 parts.

Funny you quoted that. It reminds me of my time living and working in Italy. I used to visit a beautiful smallish furniture store called Forma e Funzione (Form and Function). I thought it was emblematic of the typical Eye-talian approach to products...design first, functionality later. ;)

Looks like Frau Luger had a Nambu inna woodpile! They sent the b**tard off to Italy so he wouldn't embarrass the (ahem) Master Races.

:D Still a classic bit of history, though. Thanks for posting1

I'll have to try the reload info for the Glisenti; and it does look like the unwanted offspring from Frau Luger and Anjin San Nambu!
