It's cold outside

All the above, great ideas.

Last year I picked up an indoor propane heater (Big Buddy) as insurance. That and 4 grill tanks should be good for when the power is off. Only happened 3 times in 18 years here. Most of the time is used in the garage when I'm working out there.

The grill is backup for cooking...
City water...
Have a camp stove for the real emergencies...

Then there's the Zombies, I hate Zombies...

Those Buddy Heaters are the bomb. I can't tell you how many times it's saved my ass from freezing during outages or a friend's that I've loaned one to.

It's getting too cold for zombies. They freeze up.

Be sure to check that all garden hoses are disconnected and any in ground irrigation is drained if not automatic.

Excellent suggestion! I've had to replace two anti siphon valves because I've been slow to drain the system. Not this year, those things are expensive!

The hoses are easy, shop vacuum, coil them up, put on the faucet covers, done.

Thanks for mentioning those Buddy Heaters. Have been concerned about this having moved last year a bit farther north (near Oxford) and renting a farmhouse: there is a large oak now overreaching the power line - so am concerned with freezing rain especially. The original fireplace was closed off by the owner, but we are thinking about asking him whether he might consider allowing us to pay for (or share) expense on installing a wood-burning stove that would, of course, remain with the property.

Oddly enough, I'm mostly concerned for our parrot - were it a cat/dog and just us, I figure we could rough it out or find a temporary lodging: but, trying to keep a parrot warm and/or moving her is not simple.

Anyway, enough stream of consciousness ... thanks for the OP and those two plugs for the Buddy Heaters.

No shit. I had a axel replaced in my 2012 Accord. Two weeks later during one of the recent monsoons it crapped out at 3:30am on the way to work. I had to call the wife and get her to come get me. Sorry ladies, but the saying goes: if it's got tits or tires its gonna cause trouble and hopefully not both at the same time.

I don't think we have these here. Too warm in the summer for them.

Besides...

It is stated in The Seven-Pointed Star that spirits, wights, and revenants cannot harm a pious man, so long as he is armored in his faith.

Now I know why one of my buds moved to FL. He's 9 yrs old than me and told me that as he got over 60 he could not stand the cold anymore. It's starting to get to me. Supposed to go to KS next thanksgiving to hunt. They just had a white out. No thanks. Stay warm and safe folks.

Jim's pawn shop? No ac there I know of. Exhaust fan pulling cold air from outside.

Yes, the first few times there were pretty much a sweaty mess, and the last few have been really chilly!! I'm enjoying shooting much more now. The weather outside is pretty much the weather inside....lol.

Guns Plus in Spring Lake has ac. At least it did when I helped install it back in 2001-2002.

Spring Lake is near Fayetteville, right? Might have to try it out in the summer!
