Holy cow, it's finally here...
I had to actually turn on the main heater to get the chill out of the house! (But only up to about 62*, then it's off.) Had to wear a sweater outside this morning. Yay! And had the car heater on too! (Can you tell I'm happy?)

I know many of you aren't that fond of the cold weather, but I'm going to enjoy it to the fullest! (Until we get an ice storm, and the power is out for days....then I'll be crying like a little bitch, probably! LOL.)

{Note to self: stock up on more propane bottles for the Buddy heater....}

I was looking forward to the cold since I heard it on the weather channel. Now that it's here, I'm lovin it!

Woke up with the house was at 60. A quick check of the heat then the T-stat is back to 55 until it's needed..

i enjoy cooler weather when I'm outside. But I spend too much time nekkid every night to keep my house below 73.

We too just turned on our heater for the first time this morning. I enjoy colder weather far more than hot.

Didn't turn the heater on but I did start a fire in the new wood stove last night. wthe house stayed about 70 all night long. Woke up this morning and I still had red hot coals
I'd love to have a fire in the one open fireplace we have, but the chimney's so fragile, I'd probably need to have the whole thing reworked. Even sticking a wood stove in there would take major work, I bet....

The temp went from 90 to 45 like it saw a state trooper.

Had to put my jacket on to fuel the truck and had to wear a long sleeve shirt on my run last night. Need to find a few other things today. The run was pretty chilly at 3 am.

I can tell you all are not from Buffalo, NY. You would have a different opinion if you were. 75-83 is perfect year round for me

It's getting to be sweater or jacket weather and about time to break out the larger caliber carry guns!

Haven’t had to turn the heat on here yet but it’s probably coming tomorrow night when it may get down into the 40’s.

You could slide a double wall stainless pipe down it or there are companies out there who will sleeve your chimney.

I'll have to look into those options. It would be nice not to have to use the propane heater during power outages!
Thanks for the suggestions.

I hate cold weather.

Period.
I totally get why some people hate it....but I'm the same way about summer! Once you've experienced menopause in summer, you'll get it! And I have extra "insulation" that keeps the heat in...miserable!
I'm happiest when it's 45*, and I need a sweater when I go outside, and might have to put on shoes other than flip flops.
And it's not like we get to -50* here!

Isn't Buffalo where they get feet of snow all the time? I'd love to see many feet of snow! Not necessarily live with it, because you know how us southerners get when a couple of inches fall. But I'd like to see it, briefly.

Yep, it's actually not so much the snow since they actually know how and have the equipment to remove from the roads plus most know how to drive in it. It's more of the 5 months of relentless cold, seeing the sun maybe once a week, endless back breaking shoveling, car always freezing cold when you get inside and of course the outside of anything you wear is wet with snow.

Buffalo ... where I asked why there was a long covered walkway from a business to the street and the answer was "that's to make sure we don't lose employees between the bus stop and the building during blizzards."

Yeah...tell me about it; it's the worst.

Just finished putting a load of beech that my neighbor delivered in the wood shed. Checked the generator again to make sure it's ready if needed
Fall ,winter what ever you want to call it,.
I'm ready, bring it on

yesterday was perfect weather from 6am till 11pm

I submit that my wife believes there are two seasons in our home:

(i) when I am taking up too much of the center of the bed and need to slide over towards the edge.
(ii) when I am sleeping too close to the edge of the bed and need to move in towards the center.
