Tutorial
Select kydex thickness and pattern. Patterns for IWB holster (modified from other day) and M9 mag pouch (Glock slightly thicker)
Turn on toaster oven and heat gun.
Trace out pattern on kydex, then cut out. Using band saw.
Trim off particles off pattern, using bench grinder here. Place kydex in oven for a few minutes till soft. Place on boards with heat resistant foam, form around gun and clamp. Reheat using heat gun sections that need to be folded.
Con't
Bend second piece for belt hook and into a J around a piece of stock and clamp. Then drill for rivets and install.
Using #8 1/4" eyelets if bins marked correctly.
Finished holster
Not a IWB but a OWB holster. Placed two pieces of kydex in toaster oven to warm up, placed blue gun with Olilight mock up in padded press and clamped. Once molded, eyelets installed on ends and then molded to body. Cut two belt loops and molded around bar then attached loop into eyelets with Chicago screws.
Got busy today making some more IWB holsters but for a Soviet Makarov PM.
Pattern laid out, heating kydex, molding/pressing. One lesson learned on this pistol and a Walther PP series, don't mold the trigger guard to well. Pulls the trigger guard down which is how you disassemble the pistol.
Yesterday made some Taco formed OWB holsters for the G19s. Two using Blade Tech's TEK-LOK system and one paddle. First paddle was fubar so made a better paddle today. Made them for troops here.
Made some more holster sets today as gave my two away on range this week. One's a spare as its a matter of time before someone here in the command ask me for one.
New project for the dippers here. Several lessons learned on these today. First, fill the dip can with lead or sand. Empty can crushes when under pressure of the forming blocks. No shortage of sand here! Second, was a hardware issue on hand.
I’m a big fan of that style holster. My local kydex guy makes one similar to that and all my handguns that stay loaded in the safe live in one of those full time.
I’ve carried in a cargo shorts pocket with one of those before. Had the string attached to the button, so when I drew it out of the pocket the holster would pop off.
Thought about doing something similar with the nightstand gun that used to be in a drawer. It had one of those as well, and I considered putting a screw/washer into the inside of the drawer for the string to attach to.
