When flea market hopping today and bought a few things. Stopped in a Pawn shop on the way back and bought a J. C. Higgins model 101.24. Had a price tag on it of $129 Walked out with it for $50. I was thinking now the search for parts begins because the bolt would fall out of it and from what I could tell the trigger looked useless but I wasn't sure because of the lock on it. Got home and started the tear down and couldn't find anything broken. Finally realized the screw that holds the barrel to the stock was loose and causing the sear to allow the bolt to come out and also had the trigger loose. Checked the bore for obstructions and put it back together and took it out back. I got a shooter for $50. Well at least my grandson who will be born in November has a shooter. Some days you da bug some days you da windshield.

$50 for a working gun is a deal. And a grandson's first gun is a special thing. Good find.

Most of those were made by High Standard and are fine rifles.

Pictures ?

Either way, you scored big!

Looks nice! You did really well.

Not to shabby for an old guy with bad eye sight. First seven rounds are in the center and the last 3 are in the left lower. Didn't have a lot of time to shoot right now. Will give it a better try later. The first seven were more to see if I had solved the failure to fire problem and it looks like I did. about every third round failed to fire and I had to cock it a second time and then it would fire. Still for $50 its a deal.

That was 25 yards by the way. I can't see the damn target at 50.
