Several interesting you tube videos on this subject .
They're quite but in an outage once you expended their energy it's gone.
unless you're connecting to solar panels.
I've considered getting one for short outages when I don't want to fire up the generator..

I've considered many options have come to these two solutions that seem to fit all my needs.

1. Small inverter generators. 120v and 12v output. I have the HF 2000 and 3500.
2. 100Ah lithium battery chassis mounted in my truck with 12v, USB, 1200w 120v inverter hookups. Charging power comes through a Redarc DC-to-DC charger on the truck. Flexible hood mounted solar panels making up to 140w. The battery will charge from the alternator when running or solar panels when parked automatically. I've wired the panels so I can snap in "suitcase" panels if ever necessary for more power. The system has been running for months continuously with a 67 qt fridge/freezer. As long as I don't park in the garage, it needs no assistance.

LOL, calling a battery a generator is like calling a gas can a refinery. Yes generators can have engines that store fuel, but that's not what makes them a generator. Generators can be hand cranked, water driven, etc. This is in no way a generator.

If the prices of this stuff ever comes down, I'd consider one. But $1500 for 1kw? Zero chance.

I spent less than that for a 8.5kw generator and the stuff to hook it up to my house. And it doesn't care if it's a cloudy day...

One thing the article doesnt include is any onboard electronics are consuming its energy as well and will hurt its run time. Ran into this when sizing UPS backups and doing run time calculations for some customers.
