Jan 20 2020 Richmond VA VCDL Lobby Day

Saw this morning on CBS where a weapons ban had been passed for Richmond and specifically the area around the legislature.

How are they going to enforce it? They don't have enough cops or soldiers if the number of people show up who say they are...

So is this an armed event
It will be an armed event, absolutely. The area is surrounded by govco high rise buildings that are guaranteed to have snipers on the roof ready to blow the brain stem out of the first person to draw a gun.

While I think this event is necessary, I also think we’re past the peaceful protest being effective stage but we’re not quite at the storm the bastille and put them in the guillotine stage yet.

I understand the desire for a show of protest to follow all the sanctuary resolutions, but to me the potential benefits don't seem in any way to come close to outweighing the risks of this event.

I think it would be a better statement to have 100k Virginians peacefully be deputized or signed up for their county militia in their home county that day.

Given the reality that many will not be deterred from showing up in Richmond (which we would probably call virtue signalling if Dems were doing in relation, say, to a proposed abortion law that hadn't been passed yet), I think it would be prudent to not take firearms at all.

Take slingshots, pepper spray, Antifa milkshakes, whatever, if you want something more than fists or running feet for protection... But I think it would be wise to eliminate the chance that our side can cause a firearm death. That is exactly what the progressives WANT and are goading us to do in order to justify their legislation. We still have, and can preserve, the moral high ground.

And of course it doesn't eliminate the option that an infiltrator will use a firearm, but if the rule on the 2A side was no firearms, then it might make that treachery more obvious.

The laws haven't been passed yet, right? If they are passed, challenge them in court. Ignore them. Flaunt them. Resist their enforcement and file more law suits. We can win at their game... We actually have been, but they somehow seem to have convinced most of us that we are up against the ropes, bleeding, with a KO punch imminent, not to mention the foreign troops landing in Norfolk right now to take us away to a communist gulag!

I just don't get it. Let's win the House back, get more senators, and pass the HPA or repeal the NFA for crying out loud... It's the next logical step.

Apparently VA is calling in all the police they can to keep order. If even the low end number of people are expected to show up... it's gonna be packed. They're counting on 50-100,000 people, and areas are going to be roped off with a lot of grumpy police. That number of people won't all fit on the lawn. looking at the overhead view on google maps, you'll be getting less than 1 sqft per person at the higher numbers.
I expect they're going to lock down the city and not let people near the capitol without employee credentials. It's really gonna mess with the city.

Of course, I blame the NRA and the gun lobby they serve...

So I repeat is this still an armed event or not?

What are the organizers saying? I'm not going all that way with just a cross word and a mean stare..

Yes. It's still an armed event. They have implemented a "Rule", not a law that says no carry inside the building.
It would be treated like trespass, and you would be asked to leave.

The grounds are still(for now)firearms friendly. Need this to be a strong statement to the legislature.

From the VCDL alert on Friday:

1) With almost no notice and not even saying who is on the Rules committee until late last night, the Democrats changed the rules to ban guns in the General Assembly and the Capitol buildings. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION FOR CHP HOLDERS.

IMPORTANT: there is NO ban outside those buildings, including on the Capitol grounds. Thus, those attending the VCDL Lobby Day Rally, which is an outside event on the Capitol steps, CAN be legally armed.

I was going to pulled a Bob E. Lee and return home but this thing smacks of trouble on many levels. I have a LE friend that looked into police reports in CVille from a couple years ago and that shitshow was fully rigged by the marxist politicos running the show; I see a rerun of the whole "setup", "goatrope", or "buffalo jump", in the making at Richmond. As a Virginian I am standing down for this show as an extra. I think deceit and subversion is about all the left has in their deck of cards and desperation can be dangerous in their general vicinity.
The populous has spoken through the 2A sanctuary county movement ......lets build on that as there is meat on that bone!

I've heard estimates of 25,000 people attending, which would still make a major statement. If the estimates that @DrScaryGuy is seeing are true, it's really will create a logistical mess, which would be good in that it would make the national news and publicly embarrass the Dumbocrats for clearly pissing the People off with their gun grab.

Have to wonder at what point does another body become a matter of diminishing returns?

As far as what's transpired, the intel I am getting says:
SB-16 was removed from the committee by Saslaw

I am relaying this from the Senate Judiciary Committee. They just passed a regulation of one hand gun a month, “red flag” laws and to give hundreds of local governments the ability to ban lawful gun owners from carrying at farmers markets and permitted events and on nearby streets. This is going to be disastrous.

So it looks like they've begun moving this football downfield.

Undoubtedly if any of it gets signed as (having the farce of) "law" it will be immediately challenged with injunctions to stay it pending trial. Whether or not that is successful remains to be seen, but it would be wise in terms of holding back a violent and non compliant response.

I'll be honest. I was thinking of going to VA. My wife is out of town on a business trip and I figured she'd be gone longer. Now that she's coming back earlier than I thought she said that maybe we can make a weekend trip of it.
I really don't want to take her to a volatile situation. So I'll probably just suffer the "you always say you're going to do stuff and never actually do it" argument instead of potentially getting her trampled :)
