Anyone else been tracking the new Jeep truck? I’m not a “Jeep guy.” Never owned a Jeep (other than a Grand Cherokee, but that doesn’t count!). But I’ve always thought they looked cool. I just can’t bring myself to pay for so much cool!

But damn this new truck looks bad ass!

The official reveal is November 28 at the LA car show.

But alas, I feel like a dog being played by a red laser on the floor: it’s supposedly going to be “intentionally” priced above the Colorado and Ranger in the mid-sized market due to it being a “lifestyle” vehicle.

That defeats the purpose of a Jeep, in my opinion. It;s supposed to be a utility vehicle. If I pay $40k++ for something, I’m not letting a stick or dollop of mud near it! Get me the in $20k-$30k range, it’s doing everything that my 10 year old Ram does, including cut and paint things in my tailgate (I’m such a rebel!).

These trucks do it for me looks-wise. Let’s see where they land price-wise over the next 12 months...

One would hope the designers found the nexus of size and versatility and coolness with the bed. By that I mean the ability to keep it small-ish and cool, but drop the tailgate and it can haul a sheet of plywood. If not, then I agree. Don’t call it a “truck.” Lump it into the same category as those stupid Honda half-breed things.

In 2017 I bought a new 2 door and had it converted to a pickup. The folks that did it did a wonderful job. Everybody that saw it said it looked factory. As it turned out it was a bit Tight in the cab. Really Tight. The bed would hold 1 Horry County fat gal and a 6 pack of Diet Coke. A fellow from Colorado ended up with it and we are both happy.
I then bought 2 2018s. The first a 4 door and then a 2 door. I can tell you from personal experience that this can be done for around $33K. This will give you a 4 door Jeep pickup with room in the cab to move around and a decent but short bed.
Jeeps are amazing in the resale market. I'll always have one.

    Who did the conversion?

It’s a tough ledge to step off of doing such a significant alteration to a brand new vehicle. Kiss any warranty goodbye.

My dealer assured me that HE would personally take care of any problems...ANY. No warranty is any better than the dealer you are working with.
Hey, I wanted a pickup Jeep. It was the only way to go.
Name of the company is GR8T Tops in Lexington, S.C. They said it was their first time Ever doing a brand new Jeep conversion. They did one hellava a job. There are pictures on here somewhere. I'm sure you can find them. It looked factory.

I get a kick out of these RUBICON models....while it may make it through , one trip down big sluice would do some major damage to them fender/ flares... someday I will go back and collect a few dents on my land cruiser for posterity... for the money I would build something more capable...but I am fond of the truck/jeeps

When you Google it there will be a side ad beside the info. There are pictures of my Jeep on there. Easy to spot with Battery Oaks stickers.

With a base price supposedly of $45,000 just think of the M715 that could be built.

I think I would stick with a 4 door wrangler, remove the rear seats and build a bed from synthetic deck material. Maybe some locking storage into the foot wells.
My 2010 4 Door Rubicon (got it for over $1K below involve end of year sale) plus about $7500 in modifications, most of which I did myself, and it was once fun off road beast but still extremely well behaved at 80MPH with cruise control on the highway. Got the same MPG as bone stock too.
I won;t buy the early adopter overprice. Let those with more money than sense buy those.
I'd consider a 2 door version. Sport trim because I'd throw away any plastic, and put D60's under it with at least 37X12.5 TRXUS MT's.

If it comes from the factory with an OHV pushrod gas engine, straight six or V-8, with a cam profile that provides low rpm peak torque, then I'm all in.

If not, then I'll pass. It looks cool, but if it has an engine that is exactly the same engine that is used in cars, it's not for me.

I would have included the holy grail diesel engine that Jeep Wrangler owners have been dreaming of, but after the government screwed those up with the emissions garbage and the accompanied electronic nightmares, I decided not to include it in my post.

Yul. They used to be more efficient. Note they get the same mpg as gas and cost more.

I thought I read somewhere there was going to be a diesel option. But maybe the fine print said only available outside the USA in tiny letters. Cause we're so free you know. :(

The diesel is supposedly lagging a year after initial release, according to the die hards on the Jeep forums.

They'll sell the hell out of them and it will continue to keep FCA above the black. Without the Jeep, line FCA would be under.

Your title made my heart jump. I was hoping it was an 60-70s gladiator or Kaiser 715 for sale.

Unveiled today--not much surprise as it looks exactly like all the renderings and/or spy shots.
    https://www.jeep.com/gladiator.html

They are making a Rubicon version, and the diesel is delayed by a year. Other than that, not a helluva lot to report. Still no price info.

As a 20ish year old I wanted a Jeep Scrambler, but this one doesn’t really speak to me.

    Next vehicle is likely electric.

This same conversion done on a 4 door makes a nice pick-up. The 2 door I had done made the cab feel like a coffin and the bed could barely hold ONE Horry County fat gal. If my wife's Corvette was in a parking lot and I parked beside her, there was always a crowd around the Jeep.

I must be living on a different planet. I can't spend over 10k on a vehicle. I pay cash though. Jeeps do hold well. Bought my 97 wrangler for 16k with under 20k miles, sold it for 6k with 200k on it. Actually now that jeep might be worth more than I sold it for. My current 2006 jeep liberty cost 5k and it had 120k on it and I'm approaching 200k and it runs perfectly. I shoot taurus' and kahrs so yeah I'm super cheapo. Can't believe jeep waited this long to add two more door.
