Is it a getting old thing that you start to enjoy jogging? My wife started walking a while back, every night, with the girls. I started going with them on my nights off.

One night we took the dog and he was being a spaz so I took off jogging with him to try and wear him out. He loved it and I got a better workout than walking. And with my job recently getting any workout has been tough. But jogging in cargo shorts, gun belt, P238, and all the assorted junk in my pocket was not so much fun. Only ran one lap.

Next time out I went prepared and pulled off 2 laps. Bought shorts and a tank top just to run in. Put in 3 laps the next time and 4.5 laps tonight plus a 1.5 laps walking. I think that's about 3.25 miles or so jogging based on the map of the track. Before you know it I'll be buying shoes, running 5k's, and telling everyone they need to start jogging. lol I do think the best thing that helped me was I was starting out in better shape than I ever have. Riding the bike and working out was a good start. I don't feel like I'm going to pass out after 100 yards. But I am really enjoying this, and I used to hate running.

I like cardio but not a fan of jogging. I have 7 screws and a plate in my ankle. I can run 3 miles but can't really walk for 3 days after. It's too high impact on my joints. I do the arc trainer at the Y and it doesn't tear me up. That being said, I know quite a few people who I believe to be addicted to jogging. My life is better all around with exercise more so mentally than physically.

I loved running, until I ruptured an Achilles tendon... :(

Put in a mile or two for me!

I like jogging/running, but with my back running over 2 miles is no bueno. Rucking helps...burning same/more calories, walk at a 15-16 min/pace.

Jogging and your joints ...

If you haven’t really walked (and I mean walked at a good pace) at least 1 hour plus regularly start with walking and get your joints in the game. A good 1 hour walk at a fair pace routinely will give you feedback on your joints and back. Listen to them and don’t beat the hell out of them! The old walk before you run will save your joints wear and tear.

I would also like to point out that any extra poundage a person carries puts significantly more stress on joints jogging than walking ... I don’t remember the exact multipler but even if you’re just say 10 lbs overweight it adds way more stress on joints (especially cartilage in knees).

Now when you look at gear ... like hiking or such ... SOCKS!!! Buy good socks that wick moisture away from your feet. Also invest in good inner soles that support, cushion and wick moisture away. Sweaty feet stink but sweaty feet also blister way faster than feet that are kept drier.

Jogging? Wow that's awesome.

Now quit d*****g around and get back to work. I need a PPQ holster.

All I do is walk, back and forth at a brisk pace all night at work. lol I was walking with my wife a few times before actually trying jogging. And been riding a stationary bike for a while now. I do have some knee issues so I'm keeping tabs on that. Lost a good bit of weight last year and I've kept it off so that helps. All my work shoes get Superfeet insoles and I'm using my work trail runners for jogging right now.

Wait, did I miss something?

Saw my ortho this morning. In an effort to kick the can of back surgery, he told me to walk a lot, jog very little, run never. The axial compression is horrible for the spine.

Gotta figure out new cardio.
