That’s my wife talking to the driver. That’s my mailbox on the ground. It stood for 20 years until about an hour ago.

We came within ~6” of being swiped by one today…while we were sitting at a stop sign. They were to our right, and made a left turn to go the way we were coming from. Just about took our front fender off.

As somebody that’s been driving buses for >20 years, I know what it takes to maneuver one, and get really frustrated when people don’t have the necessary skill set to do that job.

When I was in junior high school back in the late seventies, our school bus driver was named Stover and he always had a cup of coffee and a bottle of whiskey and drank it while bussing us to school in the morning.😂

And everyone lived happily ever after.

When I was a junior in high school the buses were driven by other juniors and seniors from my school making $1.35 an hour.

When I was in grade school in the early 70's in Okinawa, we had a favorite little ditty we'd sometimes sing. The driver enjoyed a busload of children singing. But then, he didn't speak English.

(To the tune of Ach, du lieber Augustin):

Cheers to the bus driver, bus driver, bus driver!
Cheers to the bus driver, bus driver man,
He drinks and he cusses
And wrecks all the busses!
Cheers to the bus driver,
The bus driver man!

It was great fun for everyone! 'Til some proto-Karen told Sister Christina. Then we all got spanked.

Where can I apply?
Yep....he's been over there about 10 years. They call him a "trainer"....that used to be called a "substitute"....one that stands by to drive when somebody is out.....they are about 30 short to drive so he works every day...........Hellllll, doesn't everybody Not on the Taxpayer dole work every day???????

It’s not surprising. They will let anybody with a pulse drive buses and big trucks now. The companies I have driven for want you to back as little as possible because that is when most accidents happen.
When I left EMS, we started a policy that your partner HAD to get out and spot for you if you were backing up. Those new kids.....shew.

Ha, I was one of them. Great gig for a student. I'd volunteer to drive the field trips too so I'd get out of class and get to go on all the other classes trips too.
