I ordered 3 / 2 pack ruger factory SR9 17 rnd mags from grab a gun. It’s stamped ruger . It’s also stamped made in Italy. I’m guessing mec gar mags. The factory supplied mag is stamped made in USA. The Italian mags fit better. I can take the USA mag and lean on it inserting it. It won’t click and lock in. The Italian mag locks in no matter how i insert it. The difference is the little locking hole stamped in the mag. I can’t explain the how’s and why’s. But visibly there is a slight difference. Didn’t have time to get serious looking at it. Thought I’d share. WarDawg

Ruger has been phasing out the SR9 platform and new PC Carbines are shipping with either an SR9 mag or Security 9 mag. I expect soon it will all be security 9 mags. They both work with the Ruger mag adapter for the PC Carbine/Charger, but they do not interchange between the handguns. I tried security 9 mags in both my SR9 and SR9c and they will "fit" but won't lock in.

I expect you got a security 9 mag with your carbine....

Call Ruger and tell them about it, and they might send you a free replacement. Their customer service is excellent.

Sounds like a good plan. It will lock in but I need to lean the bottom of the mag forward and you’ll here it click in. If you lean it back while inserting it won’t click in and you can pull it back out without pressing the mag release. The Italian made ruger factory mags lock in regardless how you insert. I’ll call. You could also switch to the Glock mag adapter until you figure out the issue assuming you have any of them. I know Ruger has a good reputation for their customer service I would give them a call first.
