KAW Valley 9mm AR Bolt Firing Pin Retainer...

My firing pin retainer - aka the $0.50 cotter pin that KAW Valley wants $5.00 for - has gone MIA. Oh...and KAW Valley doesn't let you buy just one, no, they make you spend $10 to even checkout on their system.

This is why I NEVER CLEAN MY GUNS, harder to lose parts that way.

Anywhooo....is there really anything different about this pin that's worth the $5? Can someone pull theirs out (send it to me would be awesome) and compare to a regular 'ol AR15 5.56 retainer?

Anybody have specs for running over to the 'ol ACE Hardware?

P.S. What's up with cotter pins anyway? They're a total PIA. Why can't we have something more betterer?

I’ve read that the heat treatment for fp retention cotter pins is different than hardware store. Planning to add some to my next order from a reputable place, buying one just makes no sense.

A pin from a 5.56 BCG 'fits', but it seems a bit sloppy. Since I can't locate the 9mm pin, I was hoping someone could do a side-by-side and tell me "oh yeah, that KAW Valley pin is 10mm longer and 3mm thicker" or some such like that.

I can check my 9mm when I get home this evening if nobody else has before then. I’ll also compare it to a 5.56.

My bolt is a CMMG, so I'm no help.
I'm interested if its a non standard cotter pin though.

KV on left, spare 556 in middle, and 556 on right. They appear to be identical, and all three fit into the KV 9mm bcg.
