Well that's the main point. It may only gain a few square inches of additional volume with an optic, but the optic destroys the one measurement that let the Sub2k fit in so many inconspicuous places.

I'll second that. I've got an mcarbo mount on mine (holds zero unlike the flippy midwest industries thing) and it really ruins the skinny storage feature. Doesn't seem like much, but it really does, and the optic hangs up on every damn thing when you try to put it in a pack. If I was still stashing the sub2k places I would remove the optic mount and stick with the irons.
