Look at the interchange of US1 and 55, or US1 and 64. Plenty of places to stay not far away.Man too far from me to not stay in a hotel. How far is the range from reasonable hotels? Is Cary the closest area with hotels? When do we have to commit by?
Looks like a high likelihood the Holiday Inn Express at Hiway 55 and US1 in Apex will be the hotel. I'll let you know who to reference for the rate once I get it nailed down. They already have a rate for Woody's due to other events there.
Dinner Saturday evening and then back to the range for the low light portion.

Their current advertised rate on line (without any discounts) for Holiday Inn Express for that date looks like $104 plus tax, per night. These days the rates will change all the way up until the date of the event, so I will post up what they tell me as soon as I get a call back. I was just there yesterday.Let me know what the rate is ASAP so I can calculate my total cost before I send a deposit.

We will shoot steel for some of the drills. Are we shooting steel in this class? I have some older 124gr Geco 9mm that has a mild steel jacket that is magnetic that I would love to shoot for this class but some people worry about it on steel at close ranges.

Approximately 80% or better will be on paper. Ken usually sets up some shooting on the move drills and we will use steel for them.Is there and estimated break down of steel to cardboard in terms of round count? I can bring some non RWS/Geco to shoot the steel portions.
The "Woody's" rate for Holiday Inn Express on Hiway 55 at US1 in Apex for those dates is $89 plus tax per night.
When you call to make your reservation be sure to reference that it's for an event at Woody's and confirm the rate.

Either my SDM Fabricating Colt Government Model in .45acp or a Wilson Combat CQB in .45acp.
So those who are attending what are you going to be shooting?
If you do shoot your 1911 bring extra mags to the line.
Some sort of CZ will be in my ugly mitts. I will be bringing a CZ P-01 and a SP-01 Tactical but will probably only shoot the SP-01

With the weather I suspect I'll be wearing gloves,
Let me know if you have a line on something thin AND insulated. I was looking at some more mechanics gloves but I don't know whether any of them provide any insulation.
It's not a problem at a match where you shoot for one minute, then stand around with your hands in your pockets when you're not pasting targets, but for 1200 rounds and a night shoot, I figure it will be chilly. The good news is that St. Anthony will be there, the patron saint of match shooters. I have personally watched the clouds part and the rain stop when he shows up and gets out of his truck. It is a hard line to walk with shooting gloves. For me the ones that "feel" good do not provide much warmth. I have sort of defaulted to mechanics gloves.

I have a big sack of those hand warmers that heat up when you open the individual package, but they're too small. They don't get the job done when it's actually cold.I agree 100% on the difference between training and shooting a match. Hopefully someone has a good recommendation of we will just have to man up.

I'm currently using the "pig gloves", got them at the gun show for $25 (on amazon for $45?) and they're not insulated but they are easier to shoot in. I wore them curling for a few hours and they were not that warm. Far better than bare skin of course, so I won't be leaving them behind.
