Kidney stones...

I had a bout with them about 2 years ago. The "real" lemon juice thing really does work. That's when I quit drinking sweet tea altogether, I already didn't drink but maybe one soda a week, well, I quit that too. Water, an occasional beer, and straight whiskey, usually with a cigar on weekends with my neighbor, is it.

My oldest son had one a few weeks ago, didn't look like fun. Wife has a history of them as well.

I was putting laundry in the dryer a 1/2 hour ago and had a acute pain on my left side just below my ribs. Managed to hobble to bed where I now lay.. if I don't move it doesn't hurt too bad,, but Ive got a bad feeling that it isn't a muscle spasm.

They'll make you wallow the bed worse than any dog could. First one I had I just couldn't get comfortable trying to go to sleep. Finally figured out it was a kidney stone and went to the ER. Let's just say morphine was my friend that night. Sixty days later the other kidney decided to throw one out too, not to be left out.

The one and only {I hope} I had was 9MM.

Minor caliber.......I only passed one. Damn thing got stuck in the worst place you can possibly imagine... FOR TWO WEEKS.......Yes, the WORST PLACE YOU CAN IMAGINE and that is where it was! Went to the doctors, had tests, but they scanned the wrong places. I told them but they did not listen! Then one morning it came out... OMG you cannot believe the relief. It was .40 Caliber exactly. 40 Caliber! Doctors kept it, had it analyzed. Have been lucky, have not had anymore. I honestly think I carried this one around for many years, as on occasion it would attempt to get out. One of those times was in Mongolia, out in the middle of No Where. Nothing, not even a village for miles and miles. Hit early morning, 4 am or so. I rolled around in the floor of the Ger until daylight, my wife Jaun trying to do what she could. Finally camp started to stir, and the guides and camp personnel were quite sure I was dying. I was not so sure myself. We tried everything, then my buddy Lou started putting pressure on my back and kidneys with his foot, rolling me around a bit. After 15-20 minutes of this he quit. A few minutes later I was able to sit up, then stand up, and as quickly as it came on, it was GONE. I never seen anything of it for another couple of years, and that is when it tried to exit, but could not! That has been many years ago and never had another, thank goodness...............

Had one when I was 18 or 19 and hope I never have one again. I didnā€™t really know what was going on just knew it hurt like hell. Finally ended up in the emergency room where they confirmed it was a stone.

Better pray to God you never have one. And just a FYI you live in the kidney stone belt.

Oh thank you for the warning but I have the T shirt.

In fact, I got hoodie after my 3rd knee replacement the Orthopedist put me on a calcium supplement to promote bone growth around the implants. Did a fine job!

The wife found me outside leaning on the tailgate of my truck trying to pee quietly and not wake up everyone in the house.

As Yoda would say: Scary it was!

Why is this considered the kidney stone belt?

Due to the mid-meridian location on the globe there isnā€™t enough centrifugal force generated along this axis to either prevent stone formation or encourage their evacuation.

Is that a serious answer Booger, or are you pulling my kidney strings?

I may build a centrifuge to avoid that again.

It is due to the minerals in our drinking water. A lot of rural folks have wells.

A short story. A new woman joins the church where my mom is a member. Some how the conversation turns to kidney stones. The lady has never had one. They warn her that she is in the kidney stone belt. Sure enough in due time she throws a kidney stone.

I've had two and a third one that rolled a little ten years ago but stopped. Morphine is a good friend to have if you have a stone moving.

Allergic to morphine though. Gonna have to live with Oxy if it happens again

Kidney stones SUCK.

Wanna know how to tell if you're prone to having kidney stones?

Have you had a kidney stone? You're prone to having kidney stones.

If nobody has talked to you about causes, do some Google-fu and read up. And make some diet changes.

Most of us old timers eat plenty of turnip greens that does nothing to help the stones but plenty of red vinegar as a dressing sure does the trick. A shot glass of the stuff daily will keep the stones away.
