Has anybody actually put hands on one of these or shot it? It's a really pretty revolver, and so far I haven't heard any major negatives on it from any of the internet personalities that have reviewed it. Other than a lack of 3rd party support. I know there are guys that LOVE kimber and those that swear they are nothing more than a barbeque gun with function issues. The price tag is really steep in my opinion, but I'm not a big revolver guy either....

If you don't mind blasting away with a gun that cost 1k or whatever they are going for do it. I'm in the mindset of buy once cry once. If you end up buying a j frame because it's cheap you'll still want the k6 so you'll end up spending more. Remember it's stainless so can easily cleaned up with polish or bead blasted.

While I haven't even laid my eyes upon one they are super sexy and looks to be a refined 6 shot sp101.

If you want a small ish 357 mag and decide you want to save some coin find a used sp101. It will be rougher around the edges but it's probably the strongest most tank like snubbie out.

As always if you want the Kimber then by all means get it. I would never talk you out of a revolver.

If you decide to save a little the sp can be found around 400 and they get snapped up pretty quickly so if you didn't like it you could get your money back with relative ease.

If I run across a Wiley Clapp sp101 in person, it'll probably be coming home with me....but that kimber is just so shiny and smooth looking!!!! Also interested in the new Colt Cobra, looks pretty cool too.

I've handled the K6 at gun shows. Nice revolver, but I wouldn't personally pay more than $500-$600 for one, but that's just me. If I were you I'd hold off to see what the street price of the Colt Cobra will be.

I don't want "THE LIGHTEST 357 EVER!". A heavier 357 if it has similar dimensions will handle and shoot better IMO.

didn't realize that was it's claim to fame. Just thought it was sexy

I looked at several options and decided to go with a Smith and Wesson 686 with a 3" barrel. The price was almost $400 less than the Kimber and it is a beautiful piece of stainless steel.

That being said, if I had the coin, I would have the Kimber too... and some Rugers... and some more Smith's... and... you get the picture. ;)

Not sure how they claim to be "the lightest .357". The SW M&P 340 is only 13.8 oz vs Kimber's 23 oz.

ETA: Never mind, they are advertising it as the "lightest .357 6 shot". I guess that is "accurate".

I havent seen one in real life or other wise. If i had the money id own all guns ever ... except glocks and modern ARs.

BurnedOutGeek does prosecutor have one of the new ones? I know he has a LOT of snubbies

Not sure if it's a new one or not. I think it's in the revolver pic thread, I'll see if I can find it. May have been at the other place though. I don't remember.

Yup. I've got one. Like it a lot. It is not worth the money...but it is really a quality snub. Well put together. Great trigger. Hard to describe, but it shoots well. Carries like a Detective Special. Looking forward to the new Cobra as well.

I'll never shoot .357 out of mine. It can handle it. This thing is built solid. It's just that there is no net benefit to .357 in the 2" revolver platform. In this package .357 brings punishing recoil, a lot of noise and flash, and much slower follow-up. It would be sort of disorienting. I've shot .357 out of the recent S&W Model 60 and it was silly. A stout .38+P LSWCHP (Federal Nyclad) or Buffalo Bore in 158 gr, or Speer Gold Dot 135 gr is the way to go.

2" is not enough tube for .357. Bad ballistics.

Winchester Silver Tip 125 gr HP (not +P) Yeah, but I am old too. Those ain't Silver Tips. They are wicked loads for the cowboy game (and some practice with the 60.

I have an odd question....I know the K6 is a unique size and that there are speed loaders specifically for them, but they seem to be very close in cylinder diameter to the Colt Det. Spl. Has anyone tried an HKS DS-A sized speedloader? If so, how did it work, if at all?

I'll have to check the speed loaders. Just don;t know off the top of my head.
