Jerek’s bone marrow biopsy was originally scheduled on January 14th. When he went in that day, all of his numbers were good except his platelets. They were only 56. Since they were so low, the doctor decided to wait and give him more time for the platelets to fully recover from the last round of chemo. The biopsy was rescheduled for the 24th. We went to the clinic on the 24th and his platelets had come up, but were still fairly low at 71. Once again, the biopsy was rescheduled. They want his marrow to be fully recovered before they do the biopsy and it also needs to be fully recovered in order to start the maintenance phase. They are giving him 2 full weeks off this time and have scheduled the biopsy on the 7th. He is also scheduled to start maintenance on the 11th. Hopefully his platelets will be fully recovered by then so they can start this final phase.
