It has been nice not having to go into the clinic as much the past 2 weeks. As expected, Jerek’s numbers did drop, so they would not have been able to start chemo. His doctor made the right choice in giving him the 2 weeks off. His neutrophils were back up to 1,000 last Monday, so we though they were headed back up. Jerek was able to enjoy the Thanksgiving dinner with his family. It was nice for him to get out of the house for a bit and enjoy some time with family. The only crazy, eventful thing that happened over those 2 weeks is that Colt fell and fractured his foot. He was slowed down for a couple of days, but as soon as he got his cast he was back at it full force. He only has to wear it 3 weeks, so he is set to get it off next Friday.

Jerek went in Monday to begin the second half of this course. On Sunday he had an elevated temperature. He also had a few scrapes on his finger that weren’t healing. We had a feeling his neutrophils were back down and our suspicions were confirmed. They were back down to 100. They have to be over 750 for them to administer chemo, so they had to delay this next course. Since his hemogloblin and platelets are fine, there was no reason for him to go back in this week. He is scheduled to go back on Monday. The doctor will determine his treatment schedule once we know what his neutrophils are on Monday. If they happen to come up, he will start on Monday. If they are still about as low as they were this past Monday, she may delay him until after Christmas. This same thing happened with his numbers after he finished the last course. It took an entire month for his counts to recover for them to start chemo again.

His temperature was fine on Monday when he went to the clinic, but he dealt with elevated temperatures yesterday and so far this morning. It does come down on its own with just the antibiotics. He has not had to take any Tylenol to bring it down, which is a good thing. If it gets high enough, he will have to go to the hospital. We are doing everything we can to keep him at home, so please pray that his numbers come up and the fever subsides so that he can stay out of the hospital.

Thank you Caitlin. Prayers always.
