Larry Vickers Podcast

Unlike most videos on YouTube about the 1911, this video was extremely informative and had several great tips regarding maintenance and troubleshooting. I'm really looking forward to more in this series.

Very informative on 1911’s. Good vid.

One of his classes I attended he was running a Wilson 9mm 1911, and obviously being a Wilson, it was running like a raped ape. The best shooting 9mm 1991, ever. But generally 1911 + 9mm = crap.

Delta 1911, The Unit shot over 1,000,000 rounds of .45acp a year.

The solution to 9mm 1911s is throwing money at a good smith and buying only top-tier magazines. They are way more sensitive to ejector and extractor fitting. They also benefit a ton from flat-bottomed firing pin stops and light recoil springs (slowing slide velocity in both directions) in order to give those tapered rounds ample time to get pushed nose-up by the magazine spring.

Fun video, even if it is on how to make your 1960s muscle car get you to work and back every day like a Corolla.

EDIT: following along on at home with his diagnostics is cool. I knew my gun ran well, but couldn't explain 'why' it might work better than other 1911s.
