Are any of the Laser bore sights any good? Below are 2 types, I own the bottom one and it is terrible(at least the one I have). Is the cartridge type any better?

20181224_205552.jpg I normally shoot into a large piece of cardboard and then bring it to the shot. Then adjust from there.

I have both. The cartridge type is better for sure. Useful to get on paper at <25yds.

getting ready to switch to the cartridge type. have put up with the inserted wand POS for too long.

I had the Wheeler Professional Bore Sighter. Pricey but my friends and I used it on many rifles to get on paper at 50 yards. Our local range requires "qualifying" at 50 before you can move up to 250. This bore sight saved time and a ton of ammo. That is until I forgot to remove it from the end of the gun....do not do that.

FWIW

I own LOTs of these things and all have plus / minus.

In the last several years , if I can sight down the barrel bore then that's my preferred method.
Sighting down a bore includes removing an AR Lower as I have found it to be much easier in the long run. This means Iron Sights as well as Glass.
There are some bang sticks ya just can't sight down the bore so I use the cartridge type and that's after it's rolled to check that the laser is not Egg Shaped on a Back Splash.

Your mileage may differ, as others do.

I've got a super cheap Chinese $5 one for 5.56 and it's gotten me almost dialled in every time I've used it.

Like Tim, I use a visual bore sight. Just take out bolt and sight down barrel, then click dot/scope to point seen down barrel. This has gotten me closer than the laser I once used.

I am usually within a couple inches at 50 yards. But indeed it doesn’t work on everything.
